Bison Brewing Company Honey Basil Ale Clone

I kegged this last night. I did add zest from two lemons in the secondary. This beer is awesome. Doesn't seem to need much for aging. I think it's ready to drink day one. I forced carbonated of course. Can't wait for a nice hot sunny day to enjoy this outside.

Bison Brewing Company Honey Basil Ale Clone

I just brewed this AG recipe last night. I think I'm going to add lemon zest to the secondary too. Seems like it would be a great summer brew.

I think there is a way to calibrate these temp controllers. Maybe that is what needs to be done.

    Heatstick be trippin'

Brewed a Black Butte porter last night using the new heat stick. Worked great. I don't know if I'll ever leave the kitchen for brewing now that dual heat sticks are working out. Well, at least for the winter anyway.

    Heatstick be trippin'

I'll keep that in mind. I didn't think about looking around. I just tried one. But this build is looking solid. The electrical connections are completely encased in jb weld. And I have applied jb weld all around the slip reducer too.

    Heatstick be trippin'

Thanks Gritsak. I was looking at that earlier. Unfortunately I could not fit the 1" coupling in the chrome drain pipe. So I took the cardboard roll from paper towels and cut it to fit around the connections and filled with jb weld. I'm looking forward to the finished product. I'm confident...

    Heatstick be trippin'

Thanks for the feedback guys. I'm on my way to Home Depot. I'm going to follow your advice djt17. I'm sure we have the same issue. That looks like a solid solution.

    Heatstick be trippin'

I recently built a second heat stick using these instructions. I probably used 2 tsp acetone to thin out the jb weld to pour into the chrome drain pipe to seal off the electrical connections. After about 36 hours, I tested the heat stick and after about 20 minutes it started tripping the gfi...

Winter Seasonal Beer Great Lakes Christmas Ale Clone

So after 12 days I'm at 1.025. My SG was 1.075. Would it be wise to add another yeast packet here?

    ebay aquarium temp controller build

Thank you thank you for this thread!!! Got this controller put together and working perfectly. It's going to be nice to finally be able to controller my fermenting temps without using a cooler and ice.

Winter Seasonal Beer Great Lakes Christmas Ale Clone

I brewed this last Saturday. It was a last minutes decision to brew so I didn't make a starter and used only one packet of 1028 activator yeast. As of now it's still fermenting fairly heavy. I'm excited for this beer.

    Back to brewing

Yep, ever since I started taking brewing seriously I just can't stomach cheep beer. So now I figure if I can brew 5 gallons for approx $40, that's going to cut my beer consumption costs in half. Well, almost. Guess now with the keggerator I know drink pints rather than 12oz bottles. Oh well...

    Back to brewing

It will not be a cheap beer. I've made variations of the Elder the Pliny clones. That recipe called for 11oz of hops. So shouldn't be anything new. But I figure @ $16.50/6-pack of Hopslam, can't afford not to make it myself. Cause I can't just not buy it you know :p I've been looking...

    Back to brewing

Hi guys! I was once an active participant in this site. But brewing kinda went to the wayside for a few years due to school, work, marriage, and now a baby girl. Still brewed on avg one batch every 3 months. But didn't really invest much time on expanding my knowledge. So I'm coming back...

    Man, I love Apfelwein

A few months I started a batch of Apfelwein. I usually keep the yeast and sugar on hand so I just picked up the apple juice. Unfortunately I only had 1.5lbs of dextrose on hand and I also forgot to take a gravity reading. Any ideas on what my OG would have been? Thanks guys!
