    Have a limoncello recipe?

Just bought a house a few months ago, and it came with some well-established muscadine vines as well as a lemon tree. The only sensible thing to do with lemons? Make some limoncello, of course! I have searched around a bunch and found some promising recipes, but does anyone have any tried and...

    Where to find cask ale

I love English ales more than any other beer, and I'd love to get my hands on a cask to enjoy with some like-minded mates. I have been searching a bit with no luck, anyone know the best place and/or way to get a cask? A traditional English variety would be best but I would still be happy with...

    DFH Palo Santo Marron

First...wow! I do enjoy DFH, I think they make some great beers and are a bit different than many other breweries, and they add a nice refreshing touch to the American craft brew industry IMO. Anyway, after hearing much about this beer, both good and bad, I finally found a 4-pack of it and...

    Label design

I was feeling inspired over the weekend so I decided to throw together a quick label. First label, what do you all think?

    Anyone catch the VP debate?

I didn't, but the highlights look good! :mug::mug::mug::lol::lol:

    What defines a 'session' beer?

After pondering this for a while and reading many a beer review on BA and other similar sites with members saying IPA's and 5.5-6% ABV beers were 'great session beers' and 'very sessionable', I'm left wondering, what does this really mean? Is it thrown around too much or misused to describe a...

    Mmmm, I love English ales!

Here is my latest stash - All are singles except the Abbot Ale and the Old Speckled Hen which are the 4-packs of cans. Also SWMBO's pops also gave me a 12'er of Bass and a 6'er of Smithwicks, but I forgot to throw those in the pic. All in all, some delicious stuff!

    SWMBO is pissed...

So I'm in the kitchen today, workin' on cleaning the dishes like a good little man-slave, when SWMBO comes storming in the house waving the electric/utility bill around. Arrapently, it is $211 for our little 2/1 townhouse with the air set on 80 (GOOD GOD, is it hot all month! And I don't even...

Recipes? Irish style stew & bread

Hola, all - This weekend I'm looking to make a hearty Irish-style stew and some bread to compliment (already got plenty of delicious stout to go with it!) I looked around at a bunch of recipes on the internet and got some that look good, but I figured I'd see if you all have anything that is...

    Dump? Yay or nay?

First off, before everyone jumps on me, I know to give it time and let it age. :mug: Anyway, I brewed up a irish red, ohhhh, late October of last year. Fermentation temps were great, bottled after 2 weeks in primary with a F.G. of 1.015 and O.G. of 1.050. Hydro sample tasted spot on and...

    Fridge & Temp. Control

Sorry, did a quick search and didn't see anything... Quick question, when you hook up one of the temperature control devices to a fridge, does it control both the fridge and freezer part? What I mean is, if I set the controller to 70 F, will the freezer be 70 F as well? Thanks!

Getting a security deposit back late?

fixed Hey, all. I figured some of you here would know more about this than I would, I'm new to the whole renting thing here... Anyway, SWMBO was staying in an Apt. last semester for school, lease expired, she left and totally forgot to get her security deposit back. I believe the landlord...

    No head on beer

I brewed an Irish Red and got it all bottled, no problems. It been in the bottle for 2 weeks and when I pour it there is no head at all. Decent carbonation, could use a little more aging though. Even if I pour it straight down the middle of the glass all I get is a few bubbles on the surface...

    SA Cream Stout

All I can say is DAMN! I picked up the Winter Classics 12 pack, was intrigued by the cream stout and decided to give it a shot. Beautiful dark color, dark brown around the edges, with a nice thick and creamy dark brown head. Nice aroma, delicious, creamy, thick texture and mouthfeel, nice...

    Star San Question

Just checking here... I'm getting ready to bottle and all the bottles have a bunch of bubbles in them after dumping out the star san. I know it's a no-rinse, but this wont make a problem since there are so many bubbles? Also, do I need to let it dry before I bottle, or go ahead while it's...

    What to brew next?

Well getting ready to plan batch #3! I'm excited, the first one was good, the second one better, so I'm planning on making this one great! The only problem is...I don't know what to brew - I want to brew everything! I already made a mild and a hefeweizen, so those two are out, but I'm so...

    Hefeweizen esters

Hey all, I made the hefeweizen from Charlie Papazians book and went with the White Labs Bavarian Hefeweizen yeast on a reccomendation from my LHBS. Fermentation went fine, I had it in the primary for 2.5 weeks and bottled it tonight. The only problem I noticed was the esters from the beer -...

    Bottle or leave?

Ok, here is my problem... I've got a hefeweizen going now, its been in primary for a week, racked to secondary tonight. I know the general rule is 1-2-3, but next weekend I've got to go out of town, and I have no way to control the temperature while I'm gone (I have a rubbbermaid bucket with...

Cracked open my first brew today!

...And it was great! It's been in the bottle for 8 days or so, but I couldn't wait any longer! I threw one in the fridge this afternoon and tried it tonight! I went with a Mild for the first one - I wanted something that would be fast to ferment and condition. I've never had a 'real' mild...

    Liquid Yeast

Was at the LHBS yesterday deciding on a brew and the guy there talked me into a hefeweizen, and suggested the Bavarian Weizen, WLP351. He said it would be directly pitchable since my SG wouldn't be too high, just follow the instructions on the bottle. I get the yeast out before I start...
