    Low OG

Well at the end of two weeks I raised the temp into the low to mid 60's for two days and then racked to secondary. Took a gravity sample at this time and ABV seems to be pretty spot on. I tasted the gravity sample and it tastes really bad, like metallic and sour. I didn't see any signs of...

    Low OG

Alrighty. I switched out lids and it is sealed much better and bubbling good. Krausen looks good and bubbles are coming up through it. Boy does it stank! Sulphur/Fart smell. Is this a lager thing for it to smell?

    Low OG

Well I grabbed some 34/70 and when I opened the bucket lid, there is a Krausen! So either my lid doesn’t seal all the way or this is such a slow fermenting beer that it it’s taking forever? Also, I moved it inside last night to about 62 F to see if that would make a difference. Should I move it...

    Low OG

Ok... new problem. As of this post it has been 72 hours and so signs of fermentation. I used wyeast Czech Pilsner and made a starter 24 hours beforehand. Decanted off the top liquid from the starter and poured the yeast in. Should I let her ride or run across town and see if the LHBS has some...

    Low OG

Brewed my first lager today. Pilsner Urquell Clone. Only one mistake so far! Overfilled the airlock with vodka and some went into the wort. Should be ok right! It was grey goose :) My OG came to 1.042. Kit says OG should be 1.047. Nothing to worry about? Or do I need to take into account the...

    Did I ruin my starter?

It’s my first time using wyeast. Made a starter, followed all the directions, covered it in a glass vessel. Then I got busy cleaning up and left it on the counter under the kitchen lights for two hours before I put it in a dark place. Is it still fine to brew with tomorrow? No sunlight got to it...

Anyone have a recipe for Lush?

What are the thoughts of using the recipe for Space Dust (which tastes similar) and plugging in the ingredients for Lush? http://www.olybrew.com/recipes/spacedust.pdf

Anyone have a recipe for Lush?

No one had Lush yet? It is fairly new and West coast only.

Anyone have a recipe for Lush?

Looking for input on a recipe or how to dupe Lush IPA by Fremont. Very good IPA that I’ve only been able to find on tap a handful of places. Anyone who’s had this before will know how great it is. I’m still a nub brewer so I would need it to be partial grain at the most. Not setup for AG yet...

    Another Safale S-04 Question

Thanks for the input. I checked again and it is now 56F. I think after work I will now bring it inside and bring it into the mid to hi 60s. But for how long? I was planning to leave this in the primary fermentor for 2 weeks and bottle.

    Another Safale S-04 Question

Howdy all. I haven't been on here in years. I decided to pick up home brewing again after 4-5 years. This is only my 7th brew or so, and first in years so I was a bit rusty and made some mistakes. One was burning the malt extract syrup on the bottom of the kettle at 45 mins, which I noticed...

    Another ruined beer thread

Haha, I don't know how I happened really, I just came home and it was out. Maybe because it was still wet with starsan, as the stopper had been in for less than a day.

Pitched dry yeast, Safale US-05. Rehydrated it, I didn't make a starter.

    Another ruined beer thread

Howdy guys, I've been lurking for awhile, first time posting. I brewed a wheat ale five days ago. I had a blow off tube on the carboy for the first four days, and switched over to a stopper and airlock yesterday. I came home today and my cat had knocked out the stopper and it was on the floor. I...
