Thanks all, I am actually planning on going to Stone Brewery this coming weekend and now i'll look into Lost Abbey too! Ballast Point Brewery is where I actually bought my brew kit, they opperate with a little store called Home Brew Mart, you can order from them online too I believe.

so i'm working on my first brew. it's a pale ale and i'm only using a primary and it's been in there for 3 days. after pitching the yeast sunday evening i got a nice foamy head that appeared the next morning. its been a couple of days and now the head is gone and the its just a very clowdy...

thanks all i just gave it a good swirl so its all mixed in. is it normal that there seems to be a layer of sediment on the bottom of the carboy?

it was dry yeast from a packet. it's sitting on the top but its not foamy at all

I did splash it around and mix it up prior to putting in the yeast

so i just put everything into the carboy to ferment and the yeast has been poured in....do I need to stir it or anything? I just pour the yeast into the carboy and its spreadout but seems to be floating on the top. Thanks!

ok i have another rookie question... my instructions say to boil two gallons of water then remove from heat stir in the ingrediants untill all disolved (except the finishing hops) then bring back to a boil for 60 minutes and in the last minute add the finishing hops. Should I cover the pot...
