    just wondering

I drank my first mead at a renaissance festival about 10 years ago and completely loved it. After some thought throughout the years and a game called skyrim, I've decided to make my own. Where did you guys first try, hear of, and decide to start making meads?

    Bochet Braggot

Well, my buddy just gave me a brand new conical fermenter. I've got about 3 different meads bulk aging right now and i think i'm going to try something a bit different. No concrete plans right now, but here's what i'm thinking. 6lbs of caramelized honey 1lbs of chocolate malt 1lbs of...

    Oak barrel for aging/serving?

So after tasting my last batch of mead that i aged half of it with oak chips, i've decided that i really like the oak! I've seen these small barrels online for just over a hundred bucks that hold about 10 liters of liquid, have a medium toast inside and a bung for pouring. I would really be...

Trying something new today. Sprite mead?

It doesn't actually contain sprite, but it's meant to be citrusy and refreshing. I may also try and market it to basketball players (kidding). It all started yesterday when i was going to make an orange mead. Not quite jaom, but orange. I got rid of the raisins, the allspice, the nutmeg, the...

    Ideas about a dry black/blueberry

So this is my second batch after my first jaom that i started a week after. Made a few mistakes, but its turning out pretty good so far. The only thing is, its very very dry. which isnt necessarily a bad thing because its delicious. I would have to say that it tastes strikingly similar to a good...

    How much is too much?

Just made a pumpkin apple cyser yesterday in hopes of getting it ready for fall. If not I guess there's always next year. I tweaked the recipe in the recipe section just slightly and I have high hopes. One question, though. Is there such thing as too much airlock activity? This thing is bubbling...

    Carbonating from a scientific perspective

So I have three batches of mead going right now and have never made it before. I've tried it at the renaissance festival about 6 years ago and i absolutely loved it! The only think i can think of that I, as a new mead maker can't really wrap my head around is the way to carbonate. If you are to...
