BeerSmith - BeerTools - Promash. - Which is best? What do you have?

I have used beer smith, pro mash, and beer alchemy. Beer Alchemy is my favorite. Beer Smith is a close second. Beer Alchemy is a little more user friendly than Beer Smith. However, Beer Alchemy is Mac only I think.

    sprouting

Hey, I' new to growing hops and I just planted 4 rhizomes on Friday the fourth. One of my rhizomes is just starting to poke out of the soil but the other three haven't. I'm a very anxious person and I was just wondering from experienced growers about how long on average it takes their bines to...

I experienced grainy astringent beer for a while it took me awhile but I discovered it was because I wasn't vourlaufing long enough. I always read that you only need to recycle around two quarts but for my equiptment (10 gallon cooler w/false floor) I have to continuously recycle the wort until...

Where did all the sugar go?

Ya, I used my hydrometer for both. The only thing I can think of is I measured the mash gravity from a valve close to the bottom of a bucket (TrueBru 7Gallon buckets) and the OG I measured after pouring half into the fermenter, stirred, and measuring from the top of my 10Gallon pot. I don't know...

Where did all the sugar go?

Ok that makes sense. I thought that if I added to water and then boiled it off it would stay roughly the same as my mash gravity and since I was using 11.5 LBS of grain I thought my OG would be a little higher. Oh and I did correct the temp. for the mash gravity. It was 1.050 @134 degrees F =...

Where did all the sugar go?

I did my first all-grain yesterday. I have done a bunch of extracts and a couple of partial mashes prior. Everything went smoothly I got a 77% efficiency from the mash resulting in 4.85Gallons of 1.065 wort. I poured in some water to bring the total volume to 6.5 Gallons. I started to boil and...
