    Brewery set up

Not to mention illegal.... I know in the state of Tennessee I'm only allowed to brew 200 gallons a year. DuxNutz, it sounds like your dream homebrew rig is actually a dream to own a small commercial brewery. Those come with expensive permits and inspections and taxes. That being said...

    Nashville

My favorite brewery in town is Bosco's. They tap a cask conditioned ale every Monday and Friday at 5:30 and they have an awesome happy hour - $3 beers and $5 foods. It's in a part of town called Hillsboro Village which is great for walking. Lots of shops and restaurants and bars. Check it...

    bottles fizz over when opened.

Infected bottles. Look into sanitizing more thoroughly throughout the bottling process. Was this your first brew or have you bottled multiple batches. This happened to me before I learned that stuff can get stuck in the valve in my bottling bucket and the only way to truly sanitize it is to...

    2013 Hop garden photo thread

I'm a first time hop grower in the southeast... Wish me luck! I planted a centennial and a perle two weeks ago. I've got 2 sprouts out of the centennial and no sign of life as of yet from the perle.

Funny things you've overheard about beer

Hey, what are the odds of the professor successfully building a radio out of a coconut?

Forgot to take OG prior to pitching

I did the same thing this weekend. I don't think it has any effect at all. The yeast won't add density to the wort, they just swim in it. Kind of like humans in a swimming pool.

    Lager times

If you used an altbier ale yeast, bottle it! If you used a true lager yeast, wait it out.

Bubble Gum yeast - Long Strange Tripel Clone

Maybe get your hands in a packet of coopers dry yeast. I brewed a coopers pale ale pre hopped extract kit a couple months ago just to see what it would make. I even let it ferment at room temp instead of throwing it in my chamber. All I can taste in that beer is bubble gum. I even dry hopped!

    BIAB Mash Out and Sparge

Our setups are pretty similar. I got 87% this weekend by mashing in 5 gallons of water(8 gallon kettle) and sparging in 2(4 gallon sparge kettle). I mashed out to 170 in the main kettle and had preheated my sparge kettle to 170 as well. Best efficiency I've ever had... and at the end of the...

4th full batch, 1st boil over

Welcome to the club! I'm in the middle of brewing an Amber Ale right now that looks like will be the first in about 3 or 4 brews that I won't boil over. Wahoo!

    Everything going alright? (pics)

Actually, if that sample is at 70 degrees you need to add .002 to that hydrometer reading.
