    Strike water temperature reading

My system is a bit advanced, in that I have multiple pumps and thermometers. During heating of my strike water, I use a pump to recirculate the water. I have a thermometer where the water is taken from the HLT. I am able to monitor the temperature as I am recirculating, or more importantly...

90min vs 60 min boil - from a practicality standpoint

I was doing 90 minute boils with 5 gallon batches. Now that I am doing 10 gallon batches and reflowing my brew day, I am cutting back to 75 minute boils. I am also working towards electro etching my kettle for quantity marks so I can better observe/document my boiloff rates. My first 10...

Name That Skyline - Picture Game

Takes me to my youth because we would drive through here on our way to grandparents house for Christmas. Had to include the Christmas decorated building. They've been doing that since the 70s.

    Temperature, pressure, and quantity monitoring.

I set up a Raspberry pi to monitor my keg fridge. Every 10 minutes a python program gets pressure (using a sensor, ADS1115, and level shifter), temperature (using DHT22 sensors), and keg weight (using a wheatstone bridge load cell array and an HX711 amplifier). The data is sent to my Android...

    What's in your fermenter(s)?

Fresh air and a trace of rinse water. I got nothing working, which means brew day is near!

    Grist hydration

How are you determining how much water you're adding. Does your hot liquor tank have a sight glass for measuring volume? Does the grain become buoyant even a little bit or does it soak up and stay low?

    Grist hydration

I'd be willing to try that. You still have to stir the whole time, right? But at least you aren't alternating between dump and stir...

How Many Gallons Brewed In 2021

+ 9 gallons pale ale (one half will be aggressively dry hopped) in my second double brew day, but the first in 10 years. Working out the bugs to make this my new standard brew day of 10 gallon split batch experiments. I will either use different yeasts or different dry hops for the two halves...

    Grist hydration

My current process is to begin filling the mash tun with hot water, then I dump grain, stir, dump more grain, stir, dump more grain, stir...you know how that gets old and imprecise. I am looking for a way to meter the grain into the mash tun at a steady rate so I can just keep stirring (and...
