HBT runners what is your game changers?

Hey runners out there. What thing has made the most difference to getting you to the next level. For me 20 miles at a time was hard to break for me. I struggled over and over. Then a friend who is a triathlete and I were talking and he recommended I eat jelly beans on my run. It turns out my...

Can a minifridge lose its freon?

Likely it's R-134 if it was made in the last 5- 10 years. Freon is used as a generic term (like Kleenex). If you look at the compressor name plate you can tell what refrigerant is in it. Auto parts stores sell R-134 recharge kits for cars. You may be able to connect to the low side of the system...

    Cheap compact wort pump

I use an old computer monitor power supply for my small tan 12v pump, with and off to fill power speed control. It works great and hardly gets hot at all.

    How safe is hose water?

They are actually preventable for free. As I said earlier, disconnect the hose and fill from the spigot. Zero dollars spent, perfectly safe.

    How safe is hose water?

What about just filling from the spigot. I disconnect the hose and just fill my pot. I know you still have to carry the pot but at least you don't have to worry about water sloshing out inside your house. Or the water in a cheep hose. Or to lighten your load carry two smaller clean buckets from...

    Local Brewpub getting screwed...

OP, you should get in touch with your local beer clubs, LHBS, friends and neighbors (those not making an issue) and get folks to stop in at varying times , I know you can't drink there, but get a growler filled and take it to go. Maybe the cash and support will keep them alive until the parking...

    Bottling Rant

I rinse well after drinking a bottle, then I use the dishwasher. The high temp setting on most dishwashers is high enough to sanitize your bottles and I have had no issues with infection. After the cycle finishes I crack the door slightly to let the heat out. When the bottles are room temp I...

    Basement Brew Room Renovation

I know rhino type truck bed liners come in almost all colors now. It might not be pretty but it would be tough and waterproof. I know auto parts stores sell the kits you can roll on. I don't know about applying it to plywood, or the drywall they use in bathrooms but it might be worth looking into.

How do you guys keep people from taking your good beer at parties?

Go buy a hasp, like the kind you may use to keep a shed door closed. They are cheep and easy to install on your fridge door, with a cheep small padlock. If you invested a small fortune you might as well keep it safe. Or do the rutabagas idea, that's equally iron clad.

As per the package they are good until 212d F, I will certainly give an update after my first mash with it.

    #2 HDPE false bottom idea.

Here is my design. It's 2 cutting boards and a stainless steel hinge. The cutting boards were 5$ each and the hinge was 10$. The vinyl tubing around the edge was added because I'm using a barrel style keg and after many years of use, it's dented and out of round.

    RIMS for Dummies

The pump is supplied by a former computer monitor power supply, then to the pump speed control that does off to full power. I was able to reuse the connector for a quick disconnect for my pump.
