    R600 / R600a / IsoButane

Thanks for the reply. What is the model of the controller you use? Is the short cycle delay a pretty standard feature? Its not listed one way or another on my LHBS website. Would that be the "set independent differentials... to protect your heating and cooling devices" feature...

    R600 / R600a / IsoButane

My current kegerator uses the older R134a refrigerant, but I am looking to turn that into a fermentation chamber and build a keezer. I am seeing a lot of the new freezers use R600(a) instead which is butane, like whats in lighters and torches. Walmart for example has this warning on the Arctic...

    Chest Freezer Specs and Layouts

Did my best to scan this but has anyone got the dimensions/keg numbers for any of the 3.5-3.6 cu ft chest freezers? They would need a high collar but I am cramped for space in my new place and seriously considering this as an option if i could get 3 ball locks in it with a ~12 inch collar. I am...

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Busy brew week, have some time off before starting a new job next week so: :mug: Yesterday I put together my first Mead using Bray's BOMM technique using alfalfa / clover honey blend and Wyeast 1388. Today did an English Porter. Hit my numbers on Mash temp, volume, and PH so naturally I...

    Canadian Roll Call!!

In coquitlam myself. I use beyond the grape in port moody, and barleys homebrew in new west. And Dan's on east hastings if desperate... I used Hopdawgs when i lived in kamloops but they have changed hands since I used them so I cannot vouch for them anymore.

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Just finished cleaning up from brewing a Mild Porter (got a late start), first brew with the igloo 10g mash tun my wife got me for Christmas. Went well possibly the least amount of cursing ever for a brew day. Sunday will be my latest attempt to perfect my ESB recipe...

    Canadian Roll Call!!

In general if you simply say to any business I would like to buy some of your {{insert product here}} the only question they will have is cash debit or credit. Just keep it simple. What does it matter why you want the grain? When ever I go somewhere that doesnt normally do those kind of sales I...

    best place for supplies: Canada

18 for coopers is a little steep. The grocery stores sell them here for 15 sometimes they go on sale for 12. Try your local large box grocery or dept. Even super store sells a brand of pour and stir kits for about 12.

    torrified wheat help

Hmmm I plan on serving this beer to everyone at the company I work for. They have come to expect better than craft quality from me. Has anyone actually used puffed wheat like this? Its for a Kilkenny style red/cream ale. I want a nice thick head after going through my make shift sparkler tap...

    torrified wheat help

I am not able to locate torrified wheat any where near me. But I do have an unopened bag of puffed wheat. Ingredients list whole grain wheat and nothing else. Is this really the same thing? There is no husk on it if that matters. I can take pictures when I get home from work. If it is...

    Dead bug in fermenter

An infection from the fly was a very unlikely possibility. When you pitch yeast you are literally pitching hundreds of billions of live yeast cells. The chances of a few thousand bacteria on a fruit fly being able to out compete the yeast is slim. In fact if you did get an infection I would not...

    Dead bug in fermenter

Awesome figured you'd be ok. I agree you need to give it a cool name. When a bung got into my blackberry porter I called it stopper plopper purple porter. And yes the beersmith recipe includes #6.5 rubber bung 20 days primary

    Who ships to Canada?

Hopdawgs.ca is the only place i will order from. They are about a 75 minute drive away so shipping is cheap and its here in 36 hours. They are in Vernon BC. Check them oot eh (sorry just screwing with the Americans that lurk on this thread. Nobody talks like that)

    Autosiphon Grainbag filter ideas

they sell single use nylon mesh filters that fit over your auto siphon for this purpose. I wouldn't trust that the grain bag is sanitized properly I only use those things pre boil. My LHBS gives the mesh filters away so there is no reason for me not to use them.
