    Seeking gas valve recommendations

Can you recommend a better burner? I'm not married to these things.

    Seeking gas valve recommendations

Hello everyone. I'm building a 4 burner stand for a 4 vessel 2BBL system. I'm using natural gas 32 tip jet burners (320K BTU). This will be a semi-automated system. I would like to regulate mash temperature automatically. I'm pretty sure I need a modulating valve. Can anyone point me in...

    Cherry Stout Recipe -- Thoughts?

I made a 1 gallon Traverse City Black Cherry wine for my wife last fall which I used 6 lbs of cherrys to make. I racked the wine and left a 1/2 inch of cherry sediment in the 1 gallon carboy, then I racked a gallon of Double Chocolate Stout on top of that. It's settling out now, should be...

Spring rhizomes! Detroit Urban Growers Co-Hop

Ok I can do that. I have no experience shipping rhizomes but I just received some in the mail from New Mission Organics in traverse city MI about 250 miles north of here. I'll just ship the same way they did (wrapped in wet paper towels and then in a few layers of plastic. I'll see if we can...

Spring rhizomes! Detroit Urban Growers Co-Hop

We're not actually a business, we're a community group. I know a great company that will ship any where any time. Call Great Lakes Hops. They're good people and they do a great business. I don't know of any company in the USA that can deliver like them. http://www.greatlakeshops.com

    Celebrated my 25th Anniversary!

Tried Chimay for the first time at the place we had dinner. It was very nice and I enjoyed it immensely, however I must admit, the homebrewed Belgian I'm enjoying right now is as good if not better...ya, it's better, to me anyway. I guess I'm officially a beer snob now. Thanks HBT! I owe my...

I am wondering why my initial gravity of a stout is at 1.034?

Beersmith says you need 9 lb of LME to get 1.079 @ 5 gallons. Convert 9 lb.s and you get 4.1 kilos, not 3 kilos. If I were you I'd boil another 3/4 gallon (3L) of wort with the extra LME your missing (1.1 kilos +0.52 kilos for the extra .75 gallon) you should have had, and add then add that to...

community hop-yard going in in urban Detroit.

East side neighborhood, hopefully moving to Corktown soon. I have't sold any yet. I gave a lot away to club members, we made tons of beers with a lot and then made some hop extract* with whatever we didn't use up. *When I get a "round tuit" I'll post a thread on how I made the extract...

I'm wondering the same question. :pipe:

Opinions on this hybrid homebrew recipe?

I brew with strange spices a lot. Some brewers hate it. Oh well, I like to experiment. Let me say you are WAY, WAY (did I say WAY too much) over board on the spice. 120 cardamon pods? Are you nuts? :D Eat 1 by itself, I dare ya! It's not the pod that anyway, it's the little black seeds...

    WLP001 won't floc out (pic)

UPDATE: Ok, it's been three weeks since I racked. In secondary, a very clean, almost white layer of yeast fell out and formed a new yeast "cake", but still the beer remained cloudy, very cloudy (OG 1.052, racked @ 1.030 , current SG 1.010), still not done. So, I racked it again and since the...

community hop-yard going in in urban Detroit.

Detroit is about the most garden friendly city I know of. Plus, as you know, MI is a medical cannabis state and Detroit actually passed the medicinal use of cannabis about a year before the rest of the state, plus my garden and hopyard is totally open to the community, we teach classes there...

I racked a week ago and a bunch of yeast finally fell out. Still cloudy, about to take an SG reading. Sure is taking it's time.
