    Very Hoppy IPA Recipe

Everything I've read says that DME will eventually go bad, but it'll have a longer shelf life than LME due to the dehydration.

Recipe help please! Second attempt at creating my own.

American Pale Ale style bitterness ranges from 30-45 IBUs, so you're within style there just at the upper end, but your color is a bit dark. I would back down some of the Crystal 60L and/or some of the Victory Malt for either some more 2-row or a little Pils Malt.

    Very Hoppy IPA Recipe

I plugged everything into a calculator and got a color more about 7 or 8 SRM. 10oz of Hops?! That's a lot of plant material to be adding to the beer. Bitterness pushing 150 IBUs is way too much bitter with not that much alcohol backing it up at only about 6%. Style guidelines for an American...

What style are you trying to produce? Looks like an American Pale Ale, or IPA.

    Monolith Imperial Oatmeal Stout

What is a fair IBU range for an imperial oatmeal stout? Also I wonder if it could benefit the flavor of the beer to "dry hop" with some more flaked oats baked in cinnamon?

    Monolith Imperial Oatmeal Stout

Thanks for pointing out the roasted barley, I actually had 1/2 lb. in the recipe just forgot to transcribe it, would have made my numbers off without it. So stick to only Cinook hops at 1.5oz total? Calculations in beer smith take the bitter down to about 40 IBU.

High-ish gravity beer recipe that is ready in 7 weeks - GO!

How large of a boil can you do? I've got a partial mash recipe for a Dogfish Head 90 min Imperial IPA clone. You would just have to steep 2lbs of malts at about 148 deg.F and then at about 168 deg.F for 10 minutes, you can split them into 2 muslin bags if you wanted then remove after steeping...

Simultaneous Green Manure and Hop Growing

It seemed a little concerning to read that alfalfa could easily grow roots at a depth of 20 feet or more within two years and that metabolically active roots have been found deeper than 60 feet. I don't know why I had seemed to forget that google books existed. I found an article on cover crops...

Simultaneous Green Manure and Hop Growing

Well I know it'll certainly grow in the area, there are farms of it everywhere. Any particular reasons you would choose alfalfa? Is it better to allow alfalfa to overwinter and re-establish in the next growing season or dig it in and re-seed? If I can get away with a little less work it would...

Simultaneous Green Manure and Hop Growing

I've recently decided to purchase hop rhizomes to start growing my own hops come spring. As long as quantities hold up by the time I go to order. I'd like to plant eight total plants, four varieties (two aroma, two bittering) of two plants each Fuggles, Cascade, Magnum, and Nugget. I'll be...
