    100% Burnt Flour Beer

I don't know what could be simpler than browning some flour and then boiling it with hops. But to answer your question, QuercusMax is correct. Well, at-least when I started brewing that was the case. Now, I know where to order all the basics online. I guess I am doing it this way just because I...

    100% Burnt Flour Beer

Actually, this has been the easiest brew I've made. Previously, it was more complicated with the multiple fermentations and all, but if this works it definitely simplified the whole process. Haha, then where would the fun be? I had to build curiosity! Exactly! Me neither, I have some...

What happens to starch when it is browned?

I know that it undergoes the Maillard reaction and caramelization, but do not properly understand what these processes change the polysaccharides into. How is it different from what happens to monosaccharide glucose? Thank you to anyone that offers assistance. :D

Bananarama - Galaxy Single Hop Hefeweizen

I am not an experienced hefeweizen brewer, but certain yeast strains produce banana esters: https://www.wyeastlab.com/com_b_yeaststrain_detail.cfm?ID=135 Yeast produce more esters when they are stressed. If you brew warm and under-pitch, you might get what you are wanting.

I then fermented it: The light grey-brown layer at the top is the krausen. The black layer above it seems to be.... trub? The fermentation is carrying away happily albeit a slow complex process.

    100% Burnt Flour Beer

From an addition of Rhizopus oryzae. It is a fungus used in making rice wine. The traditional method is to put rhizopus on cooled steamed rice and then add water after a day or so. The Rhizopus creates extracellular amylase and wild yeasts and other micro-organisms join in to feed off it thereby...

    100% Burnt Flour Beer

The starches haven't been converted to sugars. The yeast will be eating sugar. It is based off of the way I have been brewing till now with a slight modification. There were no enzymes added. The flour isn't actually burnt, just browned; I said it like that for comedic effect. The hops were...

    100% Burnt Flour Beer

My wife said her mom used to make gravy in a way somewhat like this. I just added the bugs into the mix and we will see if they can make a krausen.

No, it didn't taste very sweet if at all. Next, I put it into a cold crash:

Cost of Importing Hops to America

I will check them out and see if I can find anything. Haha, maybe.

    Movies That Have Hops

Now, I watch a fair share of movies and have never seen a hops plant in a movie. I am not talking about there being a field of hops or anything, but I've never even seen a single vine. Where are all the hops at? Has anyone noticed hops in any films? Maybe I watch the wrong genres.

Cost of Importing Hops to America

Does anyone have any links or other information on this subject? I am talking with my wife's family, farmers, about commercially growing hops here in China and would like to know how much it would cost to send these back stateside. What laws are applicable? Thank you for any and all help...

    Inducing Flowering in Hops

I am mainly aiming to breed aroma varieties so maybe that won't be too much of a set-back. As they say, time will tell. If that is the case, it actually wouldn't be too bad; it would cause a bottle-neck, but all that pass through should be fairly gradable. I was thinking about smoking...

    Inducing Flowering in Hops

I just thought of something to ask you: were the differences consistent? That is, were the early cones from different varieties different from the mature cones in the same way? For example: the early cones were all more astringent or all had less bitterness or something else. Or, were the...

Do you ship internationally? Declared, undeclared, whatever; I will take the financial risk on myself if the shipment is stopped by customs here.

    Inducing Flowering in Hops

Interesting, I hadn't heard of the dwarf varieties before. What I will probably end up doing is setting up a grow room first and posting pictures online. When everyone sees the setup and gets interested, I will ask them to donate seeds for the experiment. It won't be till later this year though...

    Inducing Flowering in Hops

You continue to not understand what I am saying; the plants in the study were subjected to a normal growing season. If we extrapolate that all internode lengths could be maintained at ~ 3 cm, the plant's in the experiments must have had many more nodes than the control. The plants would have...

    Inducing Flowering in Hops

Ah, but you are missing the main point; they will be induced to flower before they reach their full height. If you read the other two studies, they cite number of internodes as a requirement before using a shift in light-cycle to induce flowering. Using 5 PPM of of Sumagic, the average internode...
