    Carolina Malt House

Yeah I spoke to Henry at the malt house and he said all they ask is you call ahead the day of pick-up and they will have your order prepared. It's also over $70 at my LHBS so this is definitely something to consider.

NEW Product Announcement - Spike Grain Mill

I'm a big fan of Spike products, have plenty in my brewery and none have let me down! My Monster Mill 2 is still going strong 10 years later, so I'm not currently in the market for a new one. However, I would be tempted as I'm sure this Spike mill is good quality.

    Carolina Malt House

I just reached out to Carolina Malt House (carolinamalt.com) in NC and they offer base malts at $1.00/lb in 50lb quantities, so basically $50/sack for 2-row, pils, munich, vienna, oats, etc. Their Carolina 2-row sounds like a Golden Promise, so that's a nice cost savings if you are close. I'm...

Working on Schofferhofer Grapefruit clone recipe

Interested in brewing a Schofferhofer Grapefruit clone. So it sounds like the concensus is to brew a good base wheat beer and then add in the Simply Grapefruit juice to keg as 50/50 and it comes out very close to the original?

    Feedback on Chocolate Cherry Stout

I'll definitely check that out. I've used some flavoring before sold in the LHBS, but this sounds more authentic.

    Feedback on Chocolate Cherry Stout

Good point. I could also use my hops strainer and drop it in the keg with more cherries in it.

    Feedback on Chocolate Cherry Stout

I'm kegging, then I bottle off the keg as needed for handouts. I guess I could also use Cherry Extract/Flavoring in the keg if I need to bump it up more too.

    Feedback on Chocolate Cherry Stout

Is that because the roasty malts will mask some of this? When I make my cherry wheat, 1 can is perfect in a 5 gallon batch. I do want to notice the cherry flavor, but I don't want it to take front stage. The goal with this beer was to try and make a cordial cherry taste. I'm open to adding...

    Feedback on Chocolate Cherry Stout

Looking for feedback on this recipe. It's similar to something I did a few years ago (Double Chocolate Strawberry Cream Stout) which was ok. I'm always worried about too much crystal or roasted malts. 5 gallon batch OG - 1.060 IBU - 28.5 Color - 33 SRM Grain Bill: 7.5# - 2-row (~50% of bill)...
