Question for other Tower of Power users

Sent. The only addition is pictures. You can contact Blichmann for info on other features and they will probably have some instructions.

Question for other Tower of Power users

You can contact support for more info, but here are some instructions I received. I can't attach a PDF so here is a copy/paste: Blichmann Tower of Power Controller Temperature Offset Instructions It is not uncommon to see a difference between the Tower of Power controller display and the...

    Fermentation Bucket Smells Like Vinegar

Is it the bucket or the spigot? You could maybe just swap out the spigot. If there is no spigot it wouldn't hurt to get a new one if you been using it a few years anyways. Maybe even consider glass or a Speidel upgrade.

Biofine Clear Clarifier and dry hopping

I haven't seen anything definitive, so I was wondering when do you all use Biofine Clear? I am doing a four day dry hop. Can I add it in with that or will it cause trouble with the hops? I wasn't planning to cold crash so I was hoping I could just add it with the dry hop and keg after a few...

    Is 303 Stainless magnetic?

Vesteroid, thank you for checking. What's weird to me is the drive shaft on mine is not magnetic, but the rollers are. I have an inquiry in to monster and I am waiting to hear back. As for the wear, there is a post on here from MM addressing it. The non-hardened steel still has a life of...

    Is 303 Stainless magnetic?

I saw this as well so I'm hoping another MM owner can try it. It is probably just a steel core.

    Is 303 Stainless magnetic?

I recently got a new MM2 mill and did the stainless upgrade on the rollers. I was kind of surprised to see a magnet sticks to them. I was under the impression this shouldn't happen for 303. Are there any other MM owners with the stainless steel that could try it for grins? Maybe a metallurgist...

Captain Crush Grain Mill Gap Measurements

The product quality aside, Northern Brewer has been more than helpful with my concerns and has offered to take this second unit back for store credit for me. I find their customer service to stand out among the online homebrew stores. I wanted to like this mill, but it has just been too...

Anyone ever use Fast Pitch canned wort for starters?

I got a couple cans for free that I haven't used yet. Adding tap water to the process is the deal breaker for me. Why would I want to start off with less than ideal sanitation so early in the process, especially if I want to overbuild. As others mentioned, I might as well just use Malta or some...

Captain Crush Grain Mill Gap Measurements

I've had good and bad experiences and already returned one of these mills that was binding up at the bushing and throwing metal all over. The second one doesn't bind, but it kept free rolling. This has all been using the Harbor Freight 1/2" drill. I've finally shortened up the gap...

Tower of Power in a HERMS Configuration?

I've done a few batches now. I had to adjust the sensor offset using an ice bath and it was off quite a bit (13 deg). With that adjustment and using a steady state offset of around 200% I can keep the mash within a degree (lower) from the top display. I was told by Midwest and blichmann that...

Bought new kettles and have questions...

    1) If you just want a generic starting point BeerSmith uses: PI()*(PotDiameter*2.54/2)^2*0.00428/3.78541 2) Besides wanting to have liquid cover a thermowell on the smallest batch size you plan to brew in the kettle, if you are thinking tri clamps, keep in mind the space you would want to...

Question for other Tower of Power users

I got a batch in last weekend and before I started I used an ice bath to determine how far off the RTD was. I ended up using a -3.7 degree calibration offset in the software and I was really close to the advertised +/-.5 degree. Towards the last 15 minutes of the mash I started to get about...

    Tower of power software help

I have two tickets in at the moment I am waiting a response on. It says allow three days but I haven't even had a ticket acknowledgement about a week later. I am going to brew tomorrow and revert back to manual if needed. I was hoping to hear from them before I brewed but I will have to keep...

Tower of Power in a HERMS Configuration?

In my testing with the RTD on the herms outlet the controller fires on and off too frequently once the setpoint has been reached. I have a 2nd pump in the hlt to avoid temp stratification which makes my temp drop very slow. This makes the unit turn on and off that much more. Without the second...

    Tower of power software help

I've done a factory reset on mine through the software but not on the unit. Did this ending helping you or how did you fix your problem?

Question for other Tower of Power users

I realize this is an old thread, but did you ever end up successfully tuning your system any further with the offsets? I have tried multiple blichmann RTD's and they all still run 3+ degrees high. When my RTD reading drops below the setpoint the system tries to fire on and off constantly for...

    The Best Sanitizer for Homebrewers

I store mine for months and check the ph occasionally with wine strips. Never had any problems. I use a siphon for transfer to keep that sanatized and then I dont need a funnel.

    What's up with this crush?

Yeah, no stuck sparges here. I heard back from them and they said the the pictures looked okay but they offered to replace the kit. I'm just happy they are taking care of it. I plan on using my own mill for this next kit.
