Can one Grow Hops in a deer infested area?

I'm going to start growing hops this year and was wondering if deer are overly attracted to them. We have a large yard surrounded by woods with many deer coming and going. My wife has a nice plan of a raised bed with trellis system that would work out well, I just don't want to stick them in the...

Pulling my lager out of hibernation. What temp??

Well my Lager is on week 4 in a secondary @ 32degrees and I would like to bottle at the end of the week. My questions is: should I be slowly raising the temperature to room temp. or am I just racking straight out of the fridge?

    Beer writers wanted

I found this in the local Craigslist. I'm not affiliated with this in any way. Just thought someone here would be a good fit "We have immediate assignments available for those who can write about beer styles with accuracy and elegance and understand the relationship of food and beer. We are...

    Beer after gravity reading?

So I moved my lager from primary to secondary this weekend. Took a gravity reading before hand and was about 4 points higher then FG. I have a few questions. 1) can I assume that 3 to 4 more weeks in a secondary will help my beer come down to the 1/012 reading that its suppose to be at and...

When to pitch to secondary fermenter

I'm new to brewing so please excuse my newbyness:) I'm have just started a Creme stout. The recipe calls for it to ferment in the primary fermenter for 5 to 7 days and transfer to secondary so it can clarify for 5 to 7 days. I am reading John Palmer's "How to Brew" and he suggests letting...

    Hello from Franklin, Ma

I just wanted to say hello and hope to make this board one of my favorites. I'm new to brewing with 3 batches under my belt. Being a long time beer drinker I'm wondering why it has taken me this long to start. I'm looking to learn and hope all will put up with my lack of knowledge. Archie
