    Bilge blower power supply help

I am having a hard time finding a PS to run the bulge blower in my keezer. I tried using a couple of old power supplies that I had sitting around, that while they worked, burned out after a few days of constant running. They were both 6v but had low (650ma) amperage. So I bought this 9v 3a one...

    Insulating keezer hump

I have a GE 7.1 cuft keezer with 4 taps. Since I use pin lock legs I need to put one on the hump, and I am having trouble keeping that keg cold. If I put the temp probe on one of the other kegs the hump keg gets warm. If I put the probe on the hump keg the others will want to freeze. I do also...

    Scorched plate chiller

I have had my plate chiller for about two years and have always just flushed it clean at the end of a brew day. The other day I decided to put it in the oven. I read a few posts on here with people ranging the temp from 450-self cleaning. I chose self cleaning (big mistake), and set it for the...

    Cloudy Rye IPA - BIAB

Has anyone ever done a rye beer with BIAB? I did one and have had it in the keg on gas for a little over a month now and it is still cloudy as hell. Not only is this my first rye beer, this is the first beer I kegged. I have never had a beer this cloudy in a bottle before, and I highly doubt it...

Picnic taps in my keezer.. Where should I put them?

I am in the process of building my keezer. Nothing fancy. Just a 7cuft with a collar to put in 4 or 5 kegs. I don't have the extra coin to buy my faucets (I do, but baby steps keep the wife happy) just yet so I am going to use picnic taps. Just trying to think what I should do with them when I...

    Defect in my carboy

So I was just cleaning a carboy to get ready to transfer and dry hop an IPA and I noticed two little tits inside that I never noticed before. I am not sure what they could be from. Obviously it is from manufacturing, but I don't know why. Should I retire this thing? I have had an infection...

    JSP Maltmill -single end adjustabe

I picked up a JSP Maltmill a little while back. It's the model with the gear drive so only one end is adjustable. Anyway I am wondering where along the length of the rollers I should take my measurement to set my gap. Does anyone have this model that can help me out?

    Little SOB ruined my starter

I don't know if it landed in the wort while it was boiling or if it got under the foil while it was on the stir plate. Dumping it!

    Plate chiller fittings

Do you guys Teflon tape the fittings on your plate chillers? I have been reading a lot about guys putting the chillers in the oven and was just curious if they re-tape them every time.

    WLP830 german lager - best by 12/16

Have a vial of WLP830 in the fridge with a best by date of 12/16/12. I have had it for a couple months, and I am thinking I won't get to making my lager for maybe another month or so. Should I make a small starter now, then wash it and store that in the fridge until I make my large starter for...

Any group buys in Southwest FL??

I am in Estero. Wondering if anybody down around this way (south of Tampa) ever gets a GB together? Seems like $50 - $60 is the going rate for 2 Row around here.

Turned my back for just a second...

And my starter wort boiled over on to the stove. I figured I had some time this morning before going to work so I took advantage and stepped up my starter. Well everything was fine until my daughter wanted more to eat for breakfast. You know what they say, a watched pot never boils! Let's just...

How do I adjust JSP Maltmill?

So I picked up a JSP Maltmill last week on CL. I just took some feeler gauges to it and the gap is like .045. Isn't that going to be too wide? I looked around online a little, but couldn't really come up with instructions. Can anyone give me a little bit of guidance on how to adjust it, please?

    Craigslist haul

So I am getting ready to switch to A/G here and I needed to pick up a mill. I ended up finding one on CL that I went and picked up tonight which turned out to be an adjustable gear driven Schmidling malt mill. I picked it and 4 pin locks up for $110!

    Hop substitution for Nugget

I am looking at the hop chart trying to find a good substitution for Nugget as the lhbs is out. I am thinking maybe Chinook? I just don't feel like making a 45min to hour round trip to another store just to spend a couple bucks. http://hopschart.com/zoom.html

LHBS Prices... First time not buying a kit.

I am getting ready to step into a/g and I have a recipe I want to try instead of buying a kit. I have done a couple extract kits and they have turned out decent, but I want to get away from. Not that I have anything against it. I just want to try the other methods. So, I emailed my lhbs which is...
