yeah.... I am not sure what to think. In person its looks more powdery than fuzzy... but its a little too much like the stuff in the fridge of my first apartment. I guess I will give it another month or two and see what happens...

    Bottle bombs?

I wouldn’t wait. I had one bottle bomb. I then opened every bottle in the batch and 2/3 of them gushered. I dumped the batch assuming it had an infection.

Thank you for this. I've recently started using that same Taylor brand thermometer and my last few batches have been watery. I knew it was temperature related and I was confused, but now I am like well duh... helps to have correct temperature readings. so I just ordered a fancy new guaranteed...

Anyone try one if these? pre made heat stick

The Marshalltown bucket heater is 17 inches long and the bottom 6 has to be submerged for it to operate. Of course it depends on the dimensions of your kettle as to how sharp of an angle you can get it to and therefore how much liquid is needed.

Electirc brewing on 110 is it possible

I do. I use a pair of ultra-low density 1500 watt elements plugged into separate 20 Amp GFI circuits. I will also throw in a 1000 watt bucket heater (on 3rd circuit) when I am feeling impatient. Once up to temp I can maintain the boil with 1 element. It’s faster than when I would only use my...

    No experience or equipment

See if you can do a brew day with your friend if you haven’t already, just to make sure you are gunna like it… cause it will nickel and dime you… but it’s a great hobby. If you are resourceful you can do a lot on the cheap. If you get hooked and you may already know you are… think about going...

    favorite bourbons?

I’ve recently discovered Woodinville Whisky of Woodinville WA. Very good stuff. I also like Basil Hayden’s, Knob Creek & Makers. Our local Fred Meyers carries a Prestige brand Bourbon… $8 something a bottle… but after a glass or two of the good stuff, it’s not bad...
