My Yuletide ale...loving it!

I enjoy one beer a night. Unless I'm at a hockey or baseball game then it's a 3 minimum kinda time.

Do you put it in a sanitizer solution and let it dry before using it?

I love watching the fermentor. Something so magical about it. Should I be worried that my 3 year old likes watching it with me? Or should I be worried that I'm equally engrossed as he is?? :)

Wow. There is zero gray area in your life. I got a brother like you, thinks all black and white. I didn't have a problem with your letter of the law thing...whatever, that's your thing. But you shouldn't make the judgement that just because the rest of us don't follow your letter of the law...

Yeah, I'll go check that out. But I don't see the point of segregating a beer competition by sex. I've never entered a competition before...do you have to say what sex you are? I really just don't see why it should matter.

Wow. I mean, this is 2012, right? And what is this about possibly having a segregated competition? Just plain weird. If I were her, I'd have no qualms about making a formal complaint so that my brew could be judged with the other brews. Hopefully, another 'brewster' won't have any problems...

Nice read. I started brewing last summer. Have loved every second of it. But I'll never forget when I first walked in my LHBS with a list of ingredients. The guy behind the counter asked if I was picking stuff up for my husband! Apparently not too many female brewers frequent his store:)

I would also love to hear how this turned out. Saw a recipe for beer using Spruce needles but way too chicken to try it out...need some more batches under my belt...maybe for next Christmas. Hey and if you liked how it turned out, do you mind posting the recipe? Thanks.

I didn't have that problem, as I went ahead and strained the wort as I put it in the fermentor. But I never seemed to get the 10 bottles...8.5 or 9 depending on how much junk was at the bottom of the fermentor at bottling time. Now I'm fermenting 1.5 gallons so I can take some out for gravity...
