Your favorite grain bill for a DIPA and why??

Rye isn't my favorite. Anyone know what Lagunitas uses? Their malt body really comes through even on the big hop bombs...

    Low SG

    no!

Your favorite grain bill for a DIPA and why??

I love DIPAs, and not because I'm a hophead trying to get drunk! I think the maltier backbone stands up better to the big hop loads and the noticeable maltiness tones down the bite lighter IPAs can have. Think Great Divide Hercules or Dog Fish 90 minute. So, I'm looking for a good base...

How picky are you about ABV?

This thread shows how many factors affect ABV. Mash efficiency all the way to yeast selection and performance and just about everything in between. Just remember, even the most skilled marksman has to take aim!

    Orlando?

It's an Orlando thing. It would seem the "mouse hunter" dominated market prefers in-Bev crap...

    Priming sugar strait to bottles

How about a priming sugar solution boiled and injected with a syringe directly into the bottles? Let's face it, going strait from the fermentor/secondary to bottles saves time and reduces exposure to o2 and other contaminants. Not to mention all the threads about priming sugar not mixing...

    Fast ferment. Any good?

How tall is it fully assembled?

    Keg level indicator

Ok, From ss floats to scales to dry erase boards it seems to me the flow meter concept has the most potential. Anything internal to the keg would require drilling holes which is just not a good idea in a pressure vessel. Scales would have to sit it the bottom of ice crusted chest freezers...

    Keg level indicator

Pics would be great! I'm in no huge hurry. In the mean time could you explain a bit more how this works? Are there wires to run? The website is pretty limited...

    Keg level indicator

Wow, Very nice. Where do you display this? Would an iPad and or iPhone do the trick? Where do the sensors mount? I have a 4 tap keezer that pumps through a wall in my kitchen. How much $$ would I be looking at?

    Fast ferment. Any good?

How many brews on it so far? I like the trub/yeast collecting feature and usually do 6 gallon batches so the size is perfect...

    Keg level indicator

So with these flow meters you can monitor the keg levels? I really don't care about the other features; I know what's in my kegs. I just want to know how much I have left!!

    Priming sugar strait to bottles

They are pricey, and it takes me quite a while to use them all up. Since they aren't sanitized in any way I really don't like having them sit around for a long time. At least the sugar cubes could get used up for coffee... I'm all about saving time and money where possible when it doesn't...

    Fast ferment. Any good?

Who's used it? Pros/cons? Considering one. Please help...

Now you're talkin'! Have you done this?

    Keg level indicator

Greetings! I've been off the forum for a while and wondering if anyone has come up with any cool new ways of monitoring beer levels in their kegs. I've got a 4-keg chest freezer pumping through taps in a wall so it's not exactly convenient to lift them out and look for the condensation! I'm...

    Priming sugar strait to bottles

I'm not going to use a bottling bucket for 12 bottles; just looking to save a little coin over the carbonation tablets...

    Priming sugar strait to bottles

I've used the carbonation tabs with success for the 12 pack or so I like to bottle before kegging my 6 gallon batches. It occurs to me a measured amount of corn sugar strait to the bottles should do the same thing. Anyone done this? How much per 12 oz bottle?

    How much gypsum?

It's kinda like asking how much hot sauce to add to your chilli before tasting it. This question simply cannot be answered without knowing the parameters of the base water. Keep in mind that gypsum is both calcium and sulfite and not in a 50-50 split....

hitting target gravity or target IBU, which is more important?

There's no 1 right or wrong answer. For an IPA I'd say you made the right call. I haven't heard of an IPA being too hoppy, but have heard plenty of complaints of the opposite. For a less hop forward style it may have been better loose a few gravity points to make sure it didn't turn out overly...
