    Refractometer laser scalpel

I laughed pretty hard when I saw that. Great timing, I just saw that episode a couple weeks ago.

I need an easy store hose

The inner diameter on any adapter I've tried that might fit the threads is juuuuuuust a hair too small. The end of the hose (the metal bit with the gasket) won't fit inside. They won't go far enough on to even see if the threads are right. There's no removable aerator in the head. My...

I need an easy store hose

This is great timing. We just installed that same faucet and I was wondering how the heck I was going to attach a hose. I have a boatload of different adapters and none of them fit properly.

    What is this?

That's a Hoff-Stevens tap. I haven't seen that type used in quite a while, but I guarantee you'll need it within a month of getting rid of it. You should hang on to it.

Will an undisturbed glass carboy ever break?

The potential for vacuum scares me with glass, but yeah, that looks pretty cool.

Will an undisturbed glass carboy ever break?

I'd be more concerned about the bucket giving way than the carboy breaking on its own. Personally, I'd just put it on a towel on the floor. If you're still concerned about breakage, go to a party store and get one of those cheap ice buckets that's big enough for the carboy to sit properly stable...

    Stuck(?) mead

I used the wine range ones. I remember hearing about the .3 inaccuracy in the Colorphast strips, so I don't trust them too much and it's why I gave the wide range. I just use them to see if I'm in the ballpark. One of these days I'll be able to afford that bench meter... I wasn't aware of the...

    Stuck(?) mead

According to my test strips, it's right around 4, just a tad under. Definitely far closer to 4 than 3.

    Advise on 1st hot mead.

Most of my meads are prickly hot right at the end of fermentation. Once it falls clear, just gently rack it off to another carboy, top it off with some sterile water and let it sit for a few months. When you come back to it you'll wonder why you were ever concerned.

    Stuck(?) mead

I have a mead that I thought was stuck, but my rescue attempt appears to have been either futile or unnecessary, and I'm not quite sure what to make of it. OG: 1.130 Yeast: Lalvin K1V-1116 Not heated, just honey mixed with filtered water, aerated, added nutrient and pitched after properly...
