    My US-05 temp

^^ Let it ride, it'll finish eventually. I've been using US-05 for probably the last 5-6 batches using a temp controlled ferment chamber held at 18C (64.4F). A couple of those batches took 14+ days to finish, a couple of them only took 10. As for the peach flavor... not sure I could tell. I did...

How to filter break from brewpot to primary?

Just let it settle in the brewpot before you transfer. You're going to lose some volume but if you only want the crystal clear wort it works great.

Building my own 2 tap tower. Need faucets.

I've never bought a faucet or parts before. Could use a suggestion.

Building my own 2 tap tower. Need faucets.

Is there anywhere I can buy a setup that has all I need to mount and connect a faucet. I want to build my own tower and will need faucets and shanks with the whole shabang to hook them up. The tower walls will be 1/2" thick and I'll need the 90* bend. Would it be cheaper to just buy the permade...

Help! Apt manager freaking out about electric setup, legal issues

OK let's clear a couple things up. You have built a brew rig in a common laundry area that's shared with others? If that's the case I can see why people would freak out regardless if it was legal or not. Does your apt have a range? Or some other way to connect your electrical? If so I'd try...

Want to brew my first iipa

EarlyAmateurZymurgist, That is impressive. You say that you don't aerate at all, do you pitch your yeast according to the well known calculators? Or do you pitch at a higher amount? 1.25m/ml or greater?

Want to brew my first iipa

I have to admit, this thread went completely the opposite direction than I though it was going to. After reading all the articles online about pure o2 and aeration I thought for sure everyone was going to say yes. I said earlier that I do have an aquarium pump so I feel better about using...

Want to brew my first iipa

I appreciate the responses, I understand I could brew the beer without the pure o2 so now I'm kind of wondering why I asked the question. I know that if I continue with this hobby I will want or need it someday anyway. Maybe I just wanted someone to say yes do it so I'd just make the...

Want to brew my first iipa

This is exactly what I'm worried about. A beer like this is not really cheap to brew and if I will have a greater possibly of success with the tank then its probably time I get one.

Want to brew my first iipa

Do you think I'm going to get enough oxygen in the wort that way for a healthy fermentation? I'm gonna need this to finish pretty dry, and will be using liquid yeast.

Want to brew my first iipa

The only thing I don't have is a way to oxygenate my wort. I do have a small aquarium pump but no stone. Should I attempt this brew without an oxygen tank? Or should I wait? Og is anticipated to be around 1.087. Cheers

I got a brewery for christmas!

I'd get something like a 62 quart kettle. A 52 quart cooler mash tun. A propane burner of decent quality. Fermenters of some sort, I like buckets. And then a way to control ferment temperature. https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f51/52-qt-coleman-xtreme-mash-tun-build-194395/...

    Start 'em young!

Mine are in the hop addition age/stage. Hahaha

Are there any hops you actually dislike?

I've realized that beers brewed with Columbus are my least favorite.

Looking for a nice fruity liquid yeast

I've had good luck with 1275 thames valley. The smell of that yeast on the stir plate is fabulous. Also the Conan yeast from heady topper is susposed to throw fruity esters. http://www.bear-flavored.com/2012/09/culturing-conan-aka-alchemists-heady.html

How do you heat your fermentation chamber? (Poll)

I also use a smaller space heater on low with an stc-1000 controller. Not sure the wattage. Works great once the beer is up to temp.

Starter only fermented wort 10 points.

I had made a starter out of some yeast that I saved from a previous starter. (1275) On the stir plate it went crazy foaming out the top of my flask. I put it in the fridge for 2 days and took it out on brew day to warm up. It smelled a little like eggs but since it seemed to ferment well I used...

starter smells a little like sulfur.

So I made a 1.5 liter starter out of some washed yeast 1275 Thames valley. On the stir plate it went nuts foaming out the top of my 2000 ml flask. It smelled great just like it was suppose to. I put it in the fridge to crash for 2 days and when I decanted it to warm up it smelled a little bit...
