    Cleaning bottles

    I just got some free bottles. I cleaned them pretty good, so I thought. Well I let them dry upside down and about a week later I saw mold in them.     Mini keg

    Could I use this on the mini kegs that you buy at the store? I find it a better deal to buy the kegs filled rather then get them empty on line from a brew shop. But if I had this I could reuse the keg for my brew. It has built in CO2.

    Traveling

    I will be going to visit family in a week or so and I want to take a home brew with me. How can I take a few beer bottles on an airplane and not break. I know I will have to check them on but how can I wrap them so they are safe?

    Blow off tube

    So I am using a blow off tube for the first time. J brewed today and pitched yeast about 3hours ago. I know that it could take up to 24 hours for fermentation to start. But will I see any bubbles in the over flow bottle? What should I look for in my carboy to know that it is fermenting?

    I just made a yeast starter from washed yeast and I have a few questions. How long does it take to get going? How do I know it's working? Should I pitch It in 24hr or what longer?

    Ok so I am going to try to make a spiced cider this weekend. Only one gallon, just a taste. Well I wanted to use a washed yeast for the first time also. 1. What will happen if I use to much yeast? 2. Will it hurt to ferment for a month? 3. Should I pasteurize after carb?

    Yeast starter

    I just washed my yeast. It was from my secondary fermenter. The question is will there be enough yeast in there for a brew? I managed to get about a pint from the carboy. I will do a yeast starter. Also should I fork out the money and get a flask or will a one gallon growler work just as good?

    What do you guys say would be the right amount if strawberries for dry hopping in a one gallon batch and a five gallon batch? I'm just doing a really light pale ale.

    Yeast from the grocery store

    I don't have a LHBS near me and I was thinking that I could use the yeast in the grocery store like Res Star. Has anybody tried this before? If so what was your recipe? I don't want it to taste like bread. If at all ill just get some and experiment with it. It can't be that bad right?

    Carboy question

    So I have my nut brown in a carboy. There is about an inch if trub on the bottom but right on top of that is about 2 inches of this white almost clear stuff. Do any of you know what it might be? I was thinking the yeast but its hard to tell.

    Ingredients

    I have some recipes I want to try but I priced out the ingredients online and it came out to like $45. Do any of you know of a good site to buy from that is cheaper? I like DME. I know there is a lot of sites out there just seeing what you all use.
