    MoreBeer stainless hop spider

    Asking if anyone has experience with MoreBeer's AG460 stainless mesh hop spider in a keg kettle. Looks promising, but I'm wondering if it'll reach down far enough for 5 gallon batches. The description says 13.75" tall but doesn't indicate whether that's from the top of the opening or the top of...

    Any reptile fans out there?

    We bought a leopard gecko the other day along with the 10g aquarium/terrarium/whatever, thermometer, day and night lights and an stick-on under-the-tank heater. Having trouble getting the thing to stay above 75F. Any suggestions? What to buy? What not to buy? Thanks.

    Goes well with Kölsch and Saison

    (those are the leftovers ;) ) The Saison seemed to pick up the Old Bay better...or maybe it was because it was my 3rd mug by then. :tank: Gonna pick the leftovers today to make crabcakes and/or cream of crab soup. :rockin: 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour...

    Buying a Wii. Need advice!

    My soon-to-be 6 year old has been asking for a Wii and I've finally gotten the go-ahead from the wife. :D So I'm looking online this morning at 'em and my head starts spinning from all the accessories, options, etc. Didn't buying a console system used to be simple? What are the needs and...

    Heading to Philly, need recommendations

    We're heading to Philly on Tuesday to visit the Academy of Natural Sciences. Takin' the kids and grandparents to see the dinosaur exhibit and I'm looking for suggestions on a brewpub/restaurant to visit afterward for a pint and something to eat. Was sad to learn that Ludwig's Garten had...

    Chili Mac, Toledo style

    I came up with this recipe in an effort to approximate Tony Packo's Chili Mac. Obviously, it's not the same but when you're 500 miles away you have to take matters into your own hands (literally!). My wife grew up in southeast MI and is no stranger to Tony Packo's and she swears by this. Prep...

    Beer =/= fat

    The other day at work one of my coworkers was lamenting about beer and how she only drinks Michelob Ultra because "those other beers will make you fat". This was after woofing down a Big Mac meal! With a Diet Coke of course! :rolleyes: Honestly, did the BudMillerCoors start this "beer belly"...

    French bread baguettes

    Made some baguettes today. Started last night making the preferment, just finished. Got the recipe and technique from The Bread Baker's Apprentice. Fairly easy to make. The pizza stone we have isn't big enough, so I had the curl the ends on one or two a little. :o But it is goooooooooood...
