    My mostly automated brucontrol setup

I'd just say. "Yeah my system is that precise"

What to do with spent grains?

Only in some cultures lol Chickens make eggs, compost, and eat insects. Then when they have out lived their usefulness yes they make some yummy soup

Chickens are really the best composters anyways. Dogs may be man's best friends but chickens are way more useful.

    Brewing happiness is...

mine was found on Jan 5th. I have been babying it because My fancy labeling system (Masking tape and sharpie) indicated it was the same beer I was brewing that day. I am looking forward to a side by side. I normally don't get to do that since I keg most batches out of laziness. As for the day of...

    Brewing happiness is...

I put an empty one back in there to see if it happens again. I like the annual holiday idea. Needs a catchy name though and a mythical character that makes it all possible.

    Brewing happiness is...

I can fit three kegs in my keezer but only have taps for two. I thought 2 out of 3 were empty. Went to pull the keg that wasn't tapped out to find it is actually full. I have a magic keezer!!! Having a pint of my miracle beer now

    My mostly automated brucontrol setup

Man I'd just be happy with a start timer to heat my strike water in the morning so I can walk out. Dough in. Go eat breakfast lol. Your build is really impressive and I just want to say thanks for all the videos showing how you script everything. Hopefully I can get some time this weekend to...

That is awesome. Your my Brew hero lol. So is your strike water via your rims setup? How do you handle dough balls?

Sweet! Did you add your grain before you started? I don't remember seeing you having a "grain adder".

Ok... I guess... I'll upgrade to brucontrol

I think I may have misspoke I never had any intention of have #10 in series with both heating elements

yea slight oversight on my part. When I built my initial control panel I just replaced the 50 amp breaker in my main control panel with a 30 amp so I didn't have to try and mount an additional breaker in my already crowded control panel. this worked because only one element was plugged in at a...

You guys are right. I would say there is a pretty good chance #10 will generate enough fault current to trip a 50 amp breaker. However it's not worth the risk. There could be enough impedance in a shorted circuit that it would not trip.

Yeah... Your right.... I probably should have some over current protection on each element vs relying on the 50 amp main in the breaker panel

So your saying I would be better off controlling the contactor with BC and a separate relay? Then the float switch would be wired in series with the input for the ssr? I want the ability to run both elements at the same time for back to back batches. I plan on bringing a separate 20 amp circuit...

Ok... I guess... I'll upgrade to brucontrol

My thinking on the contactors was to have the added safety of not having an ssr fail in the on position like I have had happen before. Or since both elements will be plugged in during the brew session. I could mess up in the scripting and dry fire my elements since they will both be plugged in...

Does anybody see anything glaring wrong with this schematic for my power circuit? I am also curious. Is everybody grounding the negative side of their dc stuff or are you floating it? In my world of substation batteries the negative is floated but I am also dealing with higher voltages.

Started taking all the old guts out of this beast and getting it cleaned up a little. It looks even bigger than I expected

The funny thing is there is a Clearwater KS about 30 minutes away. When I first saw your user name I thought you were from there lol.

Your from Florida right? I should probably update my profile. My Mayfield is in Kansas. Although I still might come visit it's kinda cold and crappy up here this time of year lol

awsome thanks. http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?icep_ff3=2&toolid=10001&campid=5338413729&icep_item=302685507524 Anybody have any luck with these? They claim they are rated for 80 amps but I find that hard to believe looking at the picture. What I am wanting to is have three...
