Ok, so I finished my HERMS ( https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f51/my-new-herms-179895/ ) on Tuesday and did my wet testing (i.e. brewed a 10 gal batch) on Wednesday. Everything went pretty well, I hit my OG, didn't have any epic failures and other than it taking 6 hours I felt pretty good about it...

Just finished my herms build and completed my first all-grain brew last night. Was really pleased with how it went and even managed to hit the OG I was shooting for and actually went over .002. All things considered I'm a pretty happy camper at the moment.

I'm almost done with my smoker build and getting ready to start the brewstand and was thinking of using a copper spray ring at the top of MLT for a return from the HEX coil in the HLT. Is there any reason not to do this instead of just a section of copper tubing routed down into the MLT?
