G-mix (Nitrogen) absorb quicker then CO2?

Hey everyone, so I put my stout/porter setup to good use recently which also included a 5 lb tank for G-mix (75% nitrogen, 25% CO2). I carbed the stout with my 10 lb CO2 tank for a week, all good there. Hooked up my 5 lb nitro tank to the 5 gallon keg and the beer came out awesome, very happy...

    Gmix psi

Just tapped my stout keg last night after carbing with straight CO2 for a week at 12 psi. Hooked my gmix tank and it was awesome. Running at 20 psi on gmix, is that too much too little? Good amount of head comes out initially but no problem after that.

    Filling tank with beer gas

Just about to pull the trigger on a nitro setup to add to my existing keezer. Anyone know where in the NYC area I can fill the tank with beer gas (g-mix)? I called the local place I have my 10 lb CO2 tank filled and they only fill 20 lb tanks with g-mix. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

    Soda making for cub scouts

Hey everyone, my son is in the cub scouts. I have been an extract brewer since this past August, absolutely love the hobby and the beer that I brew, hopefully graduate to all grain next year. In any event, I was thinking of something "cool" I could do with the troop. Obviously we can't make...

    Need help, losing carb

Hey everyone, so I went to my monthly homebrew club meeting tonight. As usual we bring our own homebrews to share, which is always great. I just got into kegging which is glorious. I filled a growler half way and was stoked to share with my fellow home brewers since I thought this was the best...

Wow, water really does make a difference

Hey everyone, so I started brewing this past August, 6 extract brews under my belt. The last two brews (both IPAs) I brewed using Poland Spring. My water sucks, thought I would spend $7.50 on (3) 2.5 gallon jugs. Let me tell you it was beyond worth it. Just tapped the keg for one of the IPAs...

Best way to fill bottles from keg

Hey everyone, what is the best way to fill bottles with caps from a keg and keep the carb? I saw a beer gun from Blichmann, granted seems a tad bit pricey. Thanks.

    Keezer Build Video

Hey everyone, just uploaded my keezer build video to YouTube, not much to it, definitely not as cool as some of the other builds. However, I am really happy with it :rockin: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M6j8G4hmc0I

    Coldcrash before kegging?

I have heard of brewers cold crashing the carboy for 24 hours prior to kegging. I assume this just means chest freezer at 40 degrees. Is the purpose of this to clean up the beer before kegging? Thanks.

Good way to attach drip tray?

Hey everyone, just got the last piece to my keezer, the good old drip tray. Any good ways of mounting? I don't want to drill into the chest freezer. Was thinking of liquid nails, but not sure how it will stay there as it sets. Any pointers would be appreciated. Thanks. Hank

    My Keezer Build

Hey everyone, yes this is another keezer build, but I am real happy with the results as I am not all that good with wood working. Would like to thank everyone on this forum for the help. I am kegging my first beer this weekend. A few helpful notes for those looking to build a keezer...

    Keezer build recommendations

Hey everyone, I will be building my keezer over the next month. I purchased the GE 7 cu ft chest freezer. I am going with a collar design with pine on the inner collar and oak on the outer collar. My initial thought was to paint the white chest freezer black enamel, any recommendations on...

    Keezer Thermal Monitor

Hey everyone, been lurking this forum for a few days now. Just order a chest freezer which of course I will be converting to a keezer. The pictures posted by the various home brewers are outstanding. I will be making a collar, my wood working skills aren't the best. In any event, I saw a few...
