    hop drying in a smoker?

I may. Be digging up some old info here. With my willamette plant coming up I am already looking forward to harvest. I wanted to know if I can dry the hops over a cold smoke? To perhaps alter their character.

    BJCP and Beyond

So I have developed a recent and serious interest in taking and passing the BJCP exams. But what I haven't seen much written about, is what happens after the test? You test, pass, and....? Anybody here pass the exams? And have any thoughts? What does passing this enable you to do? Was it worth...

    Fixing questionable beer

So I brewed Midwest's California Common and made a couple of additions to the recipe including some pale 2-row, Vienna and Wheat malts. Used the dry yeast (bad Idea) Transferred it over to glass last night and... it's not the greatest beer ever. There is something about it (perhaps lager...

    Understanding California Common

So I have a partial mash California Common coming up but I'm struggling to justify the recipe. If the style in theory is a lager fermented at ale temps. Why then do most versions call for crystal malt and other darker grains? Should it not be a straight forward lager recipe, malt, hop, mash...

I transferred it glass. all was good, I went away for the weekend and came back to a layer of foam and bubbles in the airlock. So I draw off a sample and check, tastes great and the...

So I'm getting married in two weeks and most of my guests will receive a bottle of homebrew as a gift after the reception. I have one friend who does not drink and I'm looking for ideas for a beverage for her. She's not big into soda, so I was thinking iced tea, but that stuff can come...

Could you save some cider while it is still sweet and use it to prime a batch of cider when bottling, and would it follow the same rules for beer?

    adding yeast to a bottle?

Two threads in 10 minutes, I'm hooked. So I have brewed a watermelon Belgian inspired wheat ale, the Belgian-melon as I call it. And like a smartass, thinking I could sanitize 10LBs of water melon with campden tabs and then rack the beer on to it. I killed the yeast. How do I know I killed...
