I just purchased a box of real TSP. After a quick search some posts said not to use it because it's unsafe while others said it was o.k., if anyone has any insight into the matter it would be a great help.

As I understand too much in the waste water could lead to too much algae growing and somehow killing off fish by eutrophication. It's not much to worry about now. It once was used in dish soap.

Good read, and thanks for the response.
They took it out of household products due to "pollution" in nearby ponds, lakes, and streams. It's been suggested that the phosphate used in farming as fertilizer dwarfs the amount that gets added to the environment from household products, though.
