Is it ok to use the cherries you find in the grocery store produce section for a Kriek? Or do I need to find sour cherries?

And if I have to use sour cherries, where can you get them?

I use the vitners harvest cherry puree -- most online suppliers carry them . I use 2 -3lb cans for a 5 gallon batch. I think thats equal to about 10lbs of cherries since there are no pits. The lambic i'm currently waiting on has 6lbs cherry puree and 3lbs of frozen cherries.

Sour cherries are a better choice (cleaner stronger cherry flavor) in my experience, and it is the season for them so you might be able to find some. You could also do a blend of sour and sweet (the sweet ones tend to have better color). Juice, concentrate, and other forms can work as well (although I don't find the flavor quite as good). Good luck
