This is my first batch of mead, i just switched to a secondary fermenter the other day and there is a white-ish film on the top with some bubbles in it, is this an infection or just some crud/proteins floating out?

had the same problem red wagon, just took a few days and all was good. thought the same thing and almost pulled all my hair out on the deal. snuck a thief tonight and it is a bit hot but on its way to being a nice smooth mead....hang tough

There is a lot of crud in mead, wax and bee parts mostly. During fermentation, that will either fall to the bottom or be pushed to the stop. You can remove it prior to fermentation by boiling and skimming, but I would not recommend it. You will lose a lot of aroma.
