I got a bag of Canadian Pilsner at .55/lb. At this price, I find it hard to justify paying for Castle or another continental pilsner malt to crank out some Belgians.

I've never used continental/premium pilsner. How do you think the Canadian measures up.

I think the old saying applies, you get what you pay for. What you have is good but it does not compare to Old World malts, particularly in the Continental styles.

For another perspective, I've been using Gambrinus Pilsner malt in my lagers and it is excellent. Not sure I'll go back to Best Malz.

I've been using CM's superior pilsner malt and love it. I still use some continental pils malt for some beers, but I'm really liking the CM for most of my lagers.
