I am doing my second AG this weekend with my buddy, and the first using our new 10 gallon MLT.
I am looking for some formulas or a webpage that has plugins so that I can figure out what temperature to get the mash water at, so that when I add it to x-lbs of grains it will be at y-temp...anyone have suggestions?
I am using the exact recipe that another friend did last weekend, he uses a multi step mash with tons of temperature adjustments and a bucket bag sparge, and I told him I can make just as good a beer if not better, and get better extraction with the new MLT and a single temperature mash.
I am assuming a mash at about 153*F for an hour or two with 4.5 gallons water, vorlauf until clear and sparge with another 2-3 gallons of 170*F water until it runs relatively clear and SG of runoff is about 1.010, boil down to 5.5 gallons.
Recipe:
1.5lb 6-row
1.5lb Crystal 75L
14 lb 2-row
4oz Cascade (50min)
2oz Centennial (50min)
4oz Fuggle (15 min)
2oz Fuggle (10min)
yeast: Strain isolated from Mt. Sun IPA
any more ideas/suggestions?
edit: Supposed to be a very hoppy IPA
