    Star San Smell?

I was doing some sanitizing today and noticed a smell out of the bottle of Star San. I have never noticed this smell before, it´s kind of chemical/medicinal. Is it normal for starsan to smell?

Did an infected beer make me sick?

What do I need to start brewing

Well, I think the equipment side of it is covered. Apart from that you'll need: 1)An obsession; you have to be obsessed. If you're not, just keep doing it and then you will obsess. 2)A supportive SWMBO. 3)A dislike for BMC beers. 4)One free day a week; There's nothing worse than brewing in a...

    Acidulated Malt?

I have some left overs I would like to get rid of. These are 5kgs of Pale Malt, 5kgs of Wheat Malt, 5kgs of Weyermann´s Munich and 3lbs. of Weyermann´s acidulated malt, as well as some 10 oz or so of Saaz. I was thinking of doing 10 gallons of some kind of Weissen using all the Pale and Wheat...

    Redemption!

I have an Irish Red in a fermenter for a few months now because I had a triple ankle fracture which kept me bedridden for a few months. After reading your post I decided I will "party-pig it" tomorrow. Hope it is still drinkable. Good to hear you are well. Cheers!

Going to be in DC... food/beer suggestions?

Go to District Chophouse Brewery, downtown. It's a good steak restaurant, with very good brews. DONT miss the bourbon stout!!!

Trip to Boston - Suggestions on pubs?

Bukowski's Dead Authors Club. Right next to Hynes Convention Center. It ws the place where I fell in love with beer. Not a brewpub, but they have a fine selection of beers. Ask for the "other" beer list, those are the best (there was some Imperial Baltic Stout on it, don't remember the name)...

    NB Bavarian Hefe Weizen Questions

Skip the secondary. You want it to be cloudy. How long in the primary should be dictated by gravity readings, bu two weeks is probably ok if the yeast is doing its job. I´ve opened HW´s after a week, and they are pretty good. HW should be drunk fresh.

    When did YOU start brewing?

As a student in Boston, around 2002, while drinking beer at Bukowski's Dead Authors Club Tavern, I decided I wanted to know all I could about beer. Then I found out in the internet I could brew m own beer. I bought a starter kit and have been obsessed ever since.
