Rebuttal to AB super bowl ad

Hilarious! The best bit was the brewer on the couch tossing the hops at the kettle. I think that's pretty much how BMC hops their beers, except they have a machine doing the tossing of a handful of hops into a 1000 barrel kettle.

    wine/beer storage designing

You probably want to have some shelves to store your beer upright, especially if you have bottle conditioned ones aging. Then you'll want to have horizontal storage for your wine. You have a couple options of either building a lattice style storage system, or an [X] style storage rack, or you...

    Good price on Gamma Lids

I was wondering if you were talking about a Winco. We do most of our shopping there and they do have an amusing selection of Prepper stuff like giant tubs of dried egg powder along with useful stuff like buckets and gamma lids that are a good price. I think they sell the gamma lids for $7 here...

Does Glassware Really make a Difference?

@TobyG Sounds like my Oak Aged Wee Heavy that I made. I used Glenlivet 15 instead of Macallan. It came out amazing and is a little lower on the ABV than yours at 11.5%. I agree that the tulip glass is the best one for this type of beer. I've tried it in a variety of glasses that I have at home...

BIAB 10 gal batch in 15 gallon kettle?

My last BIAB batch was a 5 gallon batch of a Wee Heavy in my 15 gal brewpot with 21lbs of grain or so and it barely fit with all the grain and the water. You would need a bigger pot if you are going to regularly do 10 gal batches of high gravity beer. My penultimate batch was a 10 gal Scottish...

Converting from 20LB portable L.P. tank to homes L.P. tank

I'd say you should check if the propane people installed a high pressure or low pressure regulator. The banjo burners are designed to run on high pressure propane and the new regulator that was installed might be a low pressure type that doesn't have enough range to flow the correct amount of...

Help with designing a brew kettle

I concor with Stealthcruiser. It would be more worth it for your friend to build you a conical fermenter since those are much more expensive to purchase than a brewpot. You can buy a nice tri-ply 15gal brewpot for around $150, but conicals are closer to $500 to $1000.

DIY - Auto-refilling Seltzer Water Keg

Yea, I think it will have to be a semi-manual system at this point unless I come up with a genius idea. I don't want to compromise the keg at all. Going through the PRV hole might work if I could fins something to match the threads. I guess having to open up a valve every couple of days isn't...

DIY - Auto-refilling Seltzer Water Keg

Thanks for the detailed reply. I just talked to the only process engineer still working today and he basically told me something similar to your process. With a pressurized system, you are only going to be able to fill your keg up to half the amount of "empty" space since the gas law says that...

DIY - Auto-refilling Seltzer Water Keg

Ok according to kegman.net this is how motorized carbonation systems work: So based on that, it seems like all i have to do is have a balanced pressure system and the water and gas will flow in as needed. Unfortunatly since it's friday all the plumbing and process engineers here at work are...

DIY - Auto-refilling Seltzer Water Keg

So according to wikipedia: This seems like they are doing something similar but with pumps to increase the water pressure to an unknown pressure (probably at least a 100psi otherwise it wouldn't flow into the tank) to match the 100 psi of the CO2. I'm sure the tank doesn't get bleed when the...

DIY - Auto-refilling Seltzer Water Keg

That might work. How do the commercial carbonation systems work?
