I see.
I've been reading The Complete Joy Of Homebrewing, and I have to say I can't stress enough how much I enjoy the way that book was written, it has been very helpful in giving me a basic understanding of the theory behind brewing, and the process itself. I have a few dvds on homebrewing...
Thanks! I'll probably be living in the Phillips neighborhood when I move. It's cheap over there, and I have a bunch of friends who own houses, so hopefully I can find a house of my own.
I'm in Illinois. I'm going to be moving to Minneapolis at the beginning of the new year, so I won't be in Chicago for much longer. I figured too big was better than too small, I just needed some prodding in the right direction I think. I'm definitely going to buy it now.
I think something having to do with House Atreides would be pretty cool. The bottles themselves have an air of royalty, so if you think in terms with the staggering socio-economic gap in the Dune series, then drink such as this could only come from a rich house. The fremen would likely never...
What a gamut of responses! Well even though I sort of hijacked this thread (for which I apologize) I appreciate the info. Someone mentioned a minibrew fermenter. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with the larger ones, like the 15 gallon one. I know a guy who doesn't have space for...
On the topic of Better Bottles, how do they rate compared to a glass carboy (weight aside)
Are flavors the same, do flavors tend to permeate inside the plastic? What are the advantages to the Better Bottle verus a glass carboy?
Wow, that is very impressive. What exactly are you using as your primary fermenter? I couldn't really get a good look at it from the pictures as it was covered with some kind of insulation.
Ok, so I should be alright with the grolsch style bottles then. I know you can replace the rubber bits (gromits/rings/washers?) for fairly cheap. Some people have suggested www.midwestsupplies.com for my brewing needs, they sell replacement rubber bits for about 5$ per 100ct, so it should be...
I just picked up a copy of the book "The Complete Joy Of Homebrewing". I like Charlie's writing style, it's very friendly and non-pretentious. I didn't expect him to write in a pretentious tone, but I was preparing for a book that was slightly difficult to follow (as are some of the "learn to do...
Thanks! I got interested in HB when I lived in Australia from 2004-2005. A friend of mine there made his own Czech pale ales, and they astonished me. He also made some kind of chocolatey porter type brew whose name I cannot recall. The beer I love beyond all others is Coopers Sparkling Ale. It...
Hello everyone,
I'm Dylan (wobble if you prefer), and I have never brewed a batch of beer or anything for that matter in my life. I plan on starting to brew when I move to MN which is at the end of the year. I've been lurking in this forum (unregistered until today) for quite some time...
