Viking BOMM (Gruit BOMM Round 2)

Anxious to hear how the nutrient protocol works for you. :rockin:

    Bray's One Month Mead

So you're thinking to caramelize only SOME of the honey. That might be a good idea. I'm anxious to hear if that works for you.

    Bray's One Month Mead

I had considered doing a Meadowfoam bochet some time in the future myself. I'm curious to know if anyone else has tried it. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Meadowfoam is pricier than most honeys. I wonder if it's some kind of cardinal sin to caramelize it. lol

    Schneider-Weisse Aventinus

Oh man. I so want to try this. I looooove Schneider Tap 6 Aventinus and Tap 7 Original. I could brush my teeth with them.

    My mead smells like farts

The question now becomes "Do your farts smell like mead?". If the answer is "no", you need to drink more mead. :mug:

    Understanding Gravity in a BOMM

Dr. Denard, I was listening to an interview series on YouTube that you featured you from GotMead.com. Buried in that conversation, you mentioned some yeast strains that gave you a "Chimay"-like quality. Chimays happen to be one of my favorite beers, and I am very interested in experimenting...

    Tulip Poplar honey

I'm really happy to hear this bit of information. I'm hoping for a good yield this year! Can't wait to try it.

    Tulip Poplar honey

I like the idea of making a dark mead, but don't want to go as heavy as Buckwheat. I've read that Tulip Poplar honey is dark and complex but is sweeter. I cannot find an online source for it ANYWHERE. Even honey.com has vendors listed for it, but upon visiting their sites, I don't see it...

    USA Federal limitations on Fermaid?

According to this article in the link below, there are Federal limitations on how much Fermaid K and DAP goes in to a must, and the original BOMM recipe busts that limit. I can't seem to find the writing on the books, and I'm curious if that only pertains to someone looking to sell their mead...

    Accelerated BOMM Experiments

Let me make sure I have this correct: So if you're using the TOSNA method with Fermaid O, do you not use DAP as you would with Fermaid K? Thanks!

    Understanding Gravity in a BOMM

I've watched some videos on YouTube of people making BOMMs, and their result was a dry mead (dryer than even what they expected). For my first mead, I want it to lean closer to sweet. I'm going 3lbs of Goldenrod honey for my 1 gallon batch. I understand that 3lbs is towards the top end. I...

Bochet, 1400s Recipe from YouTube, Aged Three Years

Drinking from a horn no less. Did you raid and pillage afterwards?

    Juniper Berries?

Funny. Skyrim is what inspired me to try my hand at mead. Something about the way those Nords talk about the mead... I was like "I'm going to have to give this a try". I've never tasted a juniper berry in my life, so I don't know if I want them in there or not.
