Wow I was surprised to see this post revivied!
I put this in primary a couple months ago and forgot about it for about 3-4 weeks. I lost my notes for it but I beleive it finished somewhere a little above 1.10. I had calculated out the amount of corn surgar needed primed the batch before...
I also brew in small apartment. My oven does alright with 3 gallon boils. Just make sure the stove top is squeeky clean - the long boils at high temperatures make the entire surface hot and it will cook the sh#t out of any dirt or grease. Took lots scrubbing to get that off :S
I just bottled my first batch as well. To clean my bottles I soaked in hot water and scrubbed inside with bottle brush, then soaked in water with small amount of bleach for 48 hours then rinsed the bottles with water. I also used the dishwasher to sanitize my bottles - I've been told not to use...
Nope, check out the "Events/News" section on his page. You can arrange local pickup but you have to pay in advance using pay-pal. Too many customers were not showing up to pickup and pay for their orders. I can't really blame him for the decision; I would do the same. Only takes a couple of...
Only the customers are to blame for that - too many no-shows . Really disappointing as it was pretty convenient for me. You can still arrange a pick up but you need to pay with pay-pal in advance. Oh well.
Good to know. :)
Have you considered making your own wort chiller? I have yet to look into one but a simple immersion wort chiller looks pretty easy to make, and probably a lot cheaper than one from a homebrew store.
Here's a link I found...

Have not seen that one yet. Looks like they are up in the Owen Sound area.
I did a quick order shipping to Toronto - shipping is $11 under 10lbs. $16 for 20lbs...
Canadian Homebrew Supplies is the only one I've ordered from so far. He does not have a storefront yet, so you have to place your order online ahead of time so he can pull your order for pickup. He does accept cash payments as well.
Otherwise I have no idea who else is in the GTA...
Thanks Homercidal! It indeed does look tasty. I'll give it a go and see what happens. Only my first brew after all so my expectations are low; lol. Either way I'm sure it'll be fun.
Thanks for your help guys.
Cheers,
Kyle
Brewferm is the name of the kit maker. The instructions are generic for all their kits but there is a table included which references the water and sugar used at different stages of the whole process for each kit; and in this kits case it does not list any sugars to be used at all. Primary...
