    First time kegging

That's the plan! I've watched tons of videos about it and read up on it. I plan to rack to the keg Tuesday, purge it, let it sit for a day, then pump a lot of CO2 into it and repeat.. Thanks for the info!

    First time kegging

I originally planned to prime with sugar, but I sampled my brew and tweaked the recipe to rebrew it with modifications. It won't be ready to keg until Tuesday, and since it'll be in a refrigerator for a week, natural carbonation isn't possible. So force carbing is the only option. It's a...

    First time kegging

It's the Stone Homebrew contest on the 28th. It goes straight to a fridge for 7 days, then to a refrigerated truck down to the contest spot where it gets hooked up to the taps there. So it'll be leaving my place and stored at 38 degrees for a week. So if I keg it Tuesday, set it to 30 PSI...

    Big Mouth Bubbler 2

Welp, I went out and bought some 'loctite' sealing tape from Lowes as a stop gap. Before I was even done looping the tape around the top, the airlock started going spastic. Leak is fixed, all is good. Will have to inspect the carboy once it's done to see if the glass isn't smooth or the cap...

    Big Mouth Bubbler 2

Yeah, I've definitely got to call for a replacement. Things I didn't mention: I did a small purge with CO2 before racking. I probably used 10 seconds worth of CO2 into the carboy just before I racked my beer, hoping to avoid oxygen in the carboy thinking the beer would push up and out any...

    Big Mouth Bubbler 2

Hey guys, I just got one of the new glass ones in the mail a week ago. My thoughts were to use it as a secondary so I could easy stick some fruit in the bottom, and in turn, the fruits easier to get out. I brewed an American Wheat with the idea of racking it over passion fruit in the secondary...

    First time kegging

And yes, a kegerator is in my future. But with the money I've spent recently on equipment, I'm not looking to spend another $500 or so for one right now.

    First time kegging

Well, after I posted I took the keg over to the fridge and figured out a way that I can remove 2 shelves and be able to fit the keg in. So I should be able to do the force carb trick. So I guess that means kegging Tuesday, purging it, letting it sit for 24 hours in the fridge, then hit it...

    First time kegging

Hey guys, I don't post around here much, but a lot of the stuff about kegging confuses me. I've been a long time bottler who's finally kegging. But I have a unique issue, I suppose? I don't have a kegerator at the moment and I have no room in my fridge. But my beers entered into a...

The upgrade version of STC-1000: Fahrenheit Display, More Easy Setting

I bought one of these on a whim to help advance myself as a brewer. However, I am utterly confused as to how to use it.. Does anyone know of any videos showing how to set it up? I see the wiring diagrams, but it's all a foreign language to me.. I may be completely off with the purpose of...

    Sour yeast blend

Thank you all for the replies! Some very valuable info here. I think the safest route is to pitch my blend with a vial of white labels WLP655 Belgian Sour Mix since I'm nearby the White Labs facility. I have little doubts about the blend I've made, the small sample it produced was already...

    Sour yeast blend

Hey all! I'm going to attempt to brew my first sour sometime in the next month. I should be able to get a hold of pretty much any kind of used wine barrel that I want, which is awesome. I'm probably going with a Pinot Noir barrel. I've yet to come up with a recipe, more research is needed...

    Belgian Pale Ale?

It's close to the recipe I posted above. Steeped the Vienna, Caramunic & specialty Aroma for 30 minutes. Boiled 3.5LBS of extract for 60 minutes Boiled 3.5LBS of extract for 15 minutes .5oz (12% AA) Nelson for 60 .5oz (12% AA) Nelson for 10 1oz Seeds of Paradise for 10 1oz (12% AA) Nelson at...

    Belgian Pale Ale?

Just a quick update. I entered this into a local competition and won! Now I get to brew my beer with a local brewer and have it on tap at a few local brewpubs, as well as have it entered into the GABF Pro-Am Category! It's pretty awesome winning a competition with my first ever submission!

    Little carbonation?

Good point! ;) It's just frustrating because I'm super impatient (which makes brewing beer very difficult!) and I've nailed carbonation in every brew I've done so far. Time to sit and wait and enjoy my session Belgian Pale Ale that came out great! And brew a new batch!
