Impact of changing hop addition timing

Is that Beano, as in, the fart reducer?

    ebay 3800w dimmer

So rather than building some elaborate control box with PIDs and SSRs, I could use this "dimmer" on the hot lines (it appears to have 2 ins and 2 outs) of a 4500W/240VAC heating element and have the ability to dial down the heat once I've reached a rolling boil?

    bottle during off-gassing?

Did it ferment vigorously in the primary (bubble in airlock every second or so for a couple days)? If so, you should be good. If not, find a hydrometer to be sure.

How long will yeasy cake last?

If you're careful with sanitation during racking, leave a quart or two of beer behind to keep the yeast hydrated, and put an airlock on the carboy, I don't see why you'd have a problem. In fact, I wouldn't be scared to let it go a week if the cake is totally submerged in leftover beer. That...

    Particles in final beer

The cloudy thing is probably just chill haze. From what I've experienced, keeping the kegs chilled longer before tapping produces clearer beer. Mine are force carbed at 40F for two weeks before tapping.

    Particles in final beer

Leave as much trub behind as possible when transferring to primary. I use a fine mesh strainer over my funnel when running off the chilled wort. when transferring from primary to secondary or secondary to keg, be sure to let everything sit undisturbed for 15 minutes after you've gotten the...

    Making a keg portable?

Assuming I have fully carbed my keg, what is the minimum equipment I need to take a keg on a trip? My annual dirtbike trip to West Virginia is coming up and I'd like to take a keg with me and packing light is a must. What are the downsides to those faucets that mount directly to the ball...

Metallic/harsh taste to force carbed Pale Ale

Actually, the more I taste it, it's more astringent/ashtray-like. But it's subsiding. Should be in good shape by Friday. Which is perfect timing since I've got all next week off! Thanks for the input.

Metallic/harsh taste to force carbed Pale Ale

Anyone else? Just let it sit at 10psi and it will correct itself?

Metallic/harsh taste to force carbed Pale Ale

Keg virgin here. I put my first keg on 30 psi and shook for 5 minutes. Then took it off and let it sit overnight. Then released pressure and put 10 psi on it. 12 hours later, the beer comes out about 2/3rds foam and has a very metallic/harsh taste. I saw this mentioned as a possible side...

    Good deal on kegging setup?

Midwest Supplies has a double dual kit for under $300. Includes two kegs, co2 cylinder, double regulator, and hoses. This will allow you to force carb one keg while the other is at serving pressure. Also allows serving at different volumes for different styles.

    Brewing Under The Influence

OK, so the "sober" part was a bit of a stretch. Maybe "Brew Sober ENOUGH TO READ DIRECTIONS My Friends!" would have been more accurate.

    Brewing Under The Influence

It's a amazing the "minor" details you can overlook when Brewing Under The Influence. I got all the way through my 70 Shilling brew session, ranting about what a POS Beersmith is because I'm a 1/2 gallon high going into my fermenter and the OG is 7 points low, only to realize...the instructions...

Tips for removing labels and that sticky glue?

Mop sink full of super hot water + scoop of Oxiclean = 90% label removal by morning. The other 10% get a putty knife. All get a quick scrub with a blue scouring pad, followed by a rinse inside and out. Then onto the bottle tree. Sidenote: The process of submerging the bottles was painful...

Fermenting smaller batches in 5 or 6.5G carboys

Revvy - What is the reasoning behind that guidance?
