So I'm looking to make a nice sessionable pale ale for our beach vacation in about 2 months. I am trying to go with the grains that I already have which is about 10 lbs 2 row and 10 lbs Vienna. I was wondering if anyone has done like 50/50 or 60/40 with these as their base malts. I do have some...
I braved the cold and brewed 10 gal of an Irish red over the weekend. Luckily I have everything set up in my garage and can close it half way to keep some of the cold air out. Although after running my immersion chiller my driveway was an ice skating rink. I am also trying to get my pipeline...
Hey all. I've been subscribed to this thread for a while but never posted in here. I'm from Akron and have a little over a year of brewing under the belt. I think it would be awesome to get together and share some homebrew since I really haven't had any expert advice yet. I will also be brewing...
Hey all, my very Irish buddy is paying me to make him an Irish red for St. Paddy's day this year. I have never made one and have only drank a few but I would really like this to turn out well. I looked through lots and lots of recipes and couldn't just settle on one so I decided to try an create...
Just a quick question for this recipe. Does everyone mash all of the specialty grains in with the rest of the grains and do you mash the whole time. I have read different things about adding a harshness to the flavor of these dark type of specialty grains are mashed for long periods. I made this...

Hey all,
I was just wondering if someone could take a look at my local water quality reports and see if they would recommend adding anything to my water. I should note that I am an all grain brewer fairly new with about 8 batches under my belt and am having a hard time trying to understand...
That's exactly what I was going with and yes I just doubled the recipe from the original post so I'm not sure what was different but it was filled to the brim with about a gallon left over and that was striking with a little over 10 gallons for 1.25qt/lb.
Brewed up a batch of this last Saturday...Talk about a bad brew day. I was aiming to make a 10 gallon batch with my 52qt cooler mash tun. I thought I would have enough space if I went with a thicker mash. I maxed out the mash tun and still had a gallon or so of water left. Needless to say it was...
I really want to make this beer and have about an oz of Columbus sitting around as well as about 3 oz of first year homegrown Zeus that I just harvested. I know these are both high AA hops but I doubt my Zeus has as much as expected since they are homegrown. And ideas on using these hops for...
