IMO there is no difference in taste between corn sugar and table sugar. I even use table sugar for bottling. Only thing is that if a recipe calls for corn sugar and you want to use table sugar.. use about 10% less.

Thanks for the feedback.
I've tweaked the recipe and cut out the 10 min hop addition.

So I am trying to create a recipe for an RIS loosely based off of Surly Darkness and Bourbon County Stout.

Hey thanks for posting this. I looked on their website and they had the exact same ingredients posted in the same order. Planning on brewing something similar next weekend. The only thing I was going to do is to add 0.5 lbs of dark brown sugar.
I'm thinking of brewing this up in a couple of weeks. I've noticed however that a lot of people are ending up at a FG of 1.040. Isn't that a little too high? Should it be closer to 1.030?
So I'm still going back and forth a bit on whether or not to brew this.
I emailed Revolution with my recipe to see if they could tell me if I was in the ball park or not and they never got back to me.
What I might do is try a few one gallon batches of this out and do it that way. But I really...
I like your thinking here..
I plugged this into brewsmith.. Here is what I am thinking for a partial mash:
5.5 gallons
OG= 1.069
ABV estimate= 6.7%

7lb Light DME (70%)
1lb Munich Malt (10%)

0.75 Dark Chocolate (7.5%)

drink1121 do you have an update on this?
I was planning on doing a porter next week and was deciding between trying to clone Revolution or doing an Edmund Fitzgerald.
I made a coffee brown ale a couple months ago. I cold steeped 12oz of coffee in 36 oz of water for 24 hours. I sparged the grains with about 16 oz of water and ran everything through some coffee filters.
I then put it in a pot .. got the coffee just up to boiling, turned off the stove, added...
My 2 cents..
DarK DME is the same as Munich. It contains stuff like Black Patent malt, etc.
Also, I would skip the Chocolate malt.. it will give way too roasty of a flavor for the style.
I just brewed up a Dunkelweissen last week using Jamils recipe.
Do a partial mash.. something...
My 2 cents, just to echo what others have said, don't use the Munich.
I did a fantastic Kolsch before and I only used Light DME. This is a really simple beer as far as ingredients go.
If I were you, I'd just to straight Pilsner.
