Go ahead and brew another batch! The carboy is fine for a secondary; no need to transfer the yeast cake, as that would defeat the purpose of the secondary anyway, which is really just to clarify. There are plenty of yeast still in suspension, and they will continue to clean up your beer for...
Looks like the order went through, but status says "unclaimed", so let me know for sure. Thanks!

Hi Wilser - just tried to order from your site, and I'm getting the following PayPal error;

Any idea what the problem might be?
Hi hyperslug. I just picked up one of these at the local Walmart yesterday; http://www.walmart.com/ip/Cook-Pro-Stainless-Steel-Over-the-Sink-Colander-with-Cutting-Board/17492622. The version I got was without the cutting board, and was about $14. I haven't tried it out yet, but it seems very...
Thanks Crito. I just tried S-04 for the first time last weekend on an ESB. The biscuit flavor profile should work well with that style, so I'm looking forward to trying it. Did you find the ferment to be a little slow/sluggish?
Definitely going, not sure which day though. I'm in Burke, work in Fairfax. Been to Jay's too, but it's a long time. Often as not, I end up ordering supplies online.
I've only ever used a 6 gallon as a secondary, and never had any issues in the finished product. When I do use a secondary I notice that it seems to "wake up" the yeast and the air lock starts bubbling again, so it's producing enough CO2 to fill the headspace easily. Also knocks a few points...
People do make wine from honeysuckle flowers. My LHBS recently posted a recipe in which he recommends steeping the flowers in boiled water for several hours, which might not be a bad idea for a brew. Here's the link; http://www.jaysbrewing.com/2013/05/09/easy-honeysuckle-wine/
Curious Grizy; how did this turn out? Any off flavors in your brew?? I have some DME bricks at home that I'd like to use up. I thought about maybe softening them up in the microwave first, as I've used that trick several times with hardened brown sugar and it works great. :mug:
I bottled an American Amber Ale the same weekend, and I live not far away in Northern VA! Coincidence, or is there some amber ale karma coming from DC? ;) I've (so far) resisted sampling too; planning on cracking a bottle Monday, as I will be away this weekend. Great video - keep 'em coming...
Welcome back to the States Arlen! Never been, but I'm told Idaho is beautiful country. How long were you over in Scotland? What were the local brews like over there?
