Okay after looking around I realize I don't need to make a starter with dry yeast. However are two packs recommended or advisable at 1.080-1.090?
If I were to make a starter for a high gravity ale with a liquid yeast hypothetically what would be the ideal recipe? I have stir plate, 1000ml flask...
Going to be brewing a high OG (~1.090) Imperial Pale Ale. Its a 5 gallon batch and I'm using good ole standbye Safale 05 dry yeast. My question is: I have 2 packs on hand, this being a high gravity ale, would there be any harm in pitching both? Would there be a noticeable discrepancy in final...
I do t recommend the thief pictured here. I have gone through 2 auto-siphon caps getting stuck inside when I drew samples. Trashed it, bought a turkey Baster.
I dry hopped my first ever homebrew an imperial IPA in the primary after about 9 days. I hd very similar OG and FG stats as yours and the beer turned out great after 7 days on the hops (2 oz citra whole cone).

It is, kind of a noob panic moment, i double pitched because I thought I got ahold of a bad pack. It is not undrinkable, but it almost is and I am blaming the yeast combo 100% I shelved a case of it in the celler and im gonna let it sit for a good bit before I do something rash like dump it all...
Update, the beer tastes pretty off. Cant deicde if its the combination of yeasts or something else along the way. Has a belgianlike finish on an ale. Thats the best way I can descibe it, which isnt good. Its almost moldy tasting...
Hi Guys
I have a partial extract recipe for a European pilsner that I am thinking about doing as an ale instead of a lager. The reason being, I am not equipped to lager beer properly, but would like to brew something similar in style using ale yeast. Ill be subbing Safale US05 dry into the...
Live sound engineer. Somehow I've made a career out of it, it also allows me I taste many a free beer, but doesn't allow much time for home brewing. Im still always experimenting when I'm not traveling 10 months of the year.
