I just tried a new beer " Labyrinth " from Uinta Brewing. Possibly the best beer I've ever tried! 99 out of 100 on rate it beer, and it definitely lived up to the hype! I would love to try and brew it but I can't find much info on it. If anyone has any input, please send it my way... I can do...
I'm trying to clone a beer I just tried called " Dark Hoppy Ale " from Beer Here Brewery. If you haven't had it, it's a fantastic beer, kind of an IPA and Stout fused together. Full Mash..... it calls for Marris Otter malt, smoked malt, and some British specialty malts. My problem is that I've...
I've done plenty of IPA's and some Porters but never a Stout. I came across the same info as you did but I also read that there is some smoked malt too, I'm not sure what that is. I'm not real familiar with these grains either so coming up with the right quantities is a bit of a mystery. Also...
I just recently tried a new beer from Beer Here Brewery out of Norway. It's called "Dark Hops Hoppy Black Ale". Sort of a cross between a dark IPA and a stout! If anyone has tried this and can point me in the right direction to brewing a batch of my own, I would greatly appreciate it. I prefer...
I was thinking about taking a 5 gal bucket with a drain valve in the bottom. filling it with ice and water. Then letting the wort slowly gravity feed through some plastic tubing that is coiled up inside the bucket ( maybe about 10 to 15 feet worth ?) the tube would be attached to the drain valve...
Oh yeah, I've decided to just let it sit. I don't think the risk is worth the reward. I agree with not wanting the oxygen in the beer. Nothing worse than a great beer with a cardboard aftertaste.
I used loose leaf, I've never used pellets for dry hopping. I'll give the weighted socks a try next time. If it makes you all feel better, I got the hops on a great buy @ $ 3.00 per 2 oz so I'm not shedding too many tears on wasting some of the dry hops. In total, I've got 18 oz of total hops in...
My recipe called for 7 oz of hops in secondary. It's a 6 1/2 gal carboy, so only about 1/2 the hops are in contact with the beer. Should I try to give it a gentle stir or just leave it alone and not risk the contamination?
that's what I was thinking too. the OG was supposed to be a bit lower ( 1.084) I did agitate the starters often... every time I walked by. I know it's not as good as a stir plate but it's the best I've got at the moment. So rack to secondary for a couple of weeks then? It's almost 7 gallons in...
