    Small Beer

Small beer meaning around 3.3% alcohol. Anchor Brewing has a small beer and I was wondering if anyone has any thoughts on the style as well as a recipe. Sorry if I left you in the dark with a lack of details.

    Burrs Already?

This is my second year growing hops and they seem to be doing quite well. They came up in late march and are now 14ft high with the sidearms producing burrs on all early and mid-season. Is this normal? Weather here has been very cool 40's-50's.

    What Happened?

After doing some reading, the only thing that I could think of is that it could be starch haze due to incomplete mashing. I used a wort chiller and an ice water bath combo to chill, as well as whirfloc in the boil. Anyone disagree?

    What Happened?

I left it in the primary fermenter for a week, racked to a secondary for another week, and now its bottled.

    What Happened?

I recently brewed my first all-grain batch of beer ( Haus Pale Ale) and lets just say that you can def tell that I am a noob. I mashed in a 10 gal rubbermaid cylinder cooler with a 12in SS false bottom for 60 min at 152 and crushed my grain with a Schmidling AA maltmill set at factory settings...

    Newbie Hop Growing ???

Last year (2009) was my first year growing hops and it was great! I think you made a good choice going with cascade, seeing as how they are very reliable and recommended for beginning growers. I got mine from MidwestSupplies and Freshops and they took off. Two cascade plants pulled in around 10...

    Temp lost to grain

Hello fellow homebrewers, I am going to be brewing my first all-grain batch soon and I was wondering how much temp is lost from the strike water to the grain? I will be mashing in a 10gal rubbermaid cooler which will be preheated.

    Help with dividing rhizomes

Hello home brewers and hop growers, I know that this has probably been asked several times before, but im having a little trouble with finding information about dividing rhizomes from my hop plants. I know they have done well because I have found some very long "runners" when I was...

Which to grow: Cascade, Willamette, Goldings, Mt. Hood

I would definetly go with cascade hops. This was my first year growing and I was amazed at how well they grew compared to the others(Hallertau, Glacier, Centennial, Horizon, and Nugget). They survied the onslaught of Japanese beatles ,the outbreak of aphids, and the 100+ degree heat. And each...
