    Controller recommendation for 1bbl system - 50a

Thank you for the information, looks like I have a lot of reading and learning to do! The EZboil in particular is interesting to me, sounds like lots of folks have been using that. I don't trust my coding skills for building an arduino based one yet

    Controller recommendation for 1bbl system - 50a

I'm considering upgrading my 1bbl system to electric (two vessel, BK and mash tun). I have purchased two 5500w elements for the boil kettle. I have an extremely insulated mash tun (200qt) that holds temp quite well with all that thermal mass from this large of a batch, so no need for an element...

Specialty IPA: Rye IPA Bee Cave Brewery Rye IPA

Haha that is weird. Whats crazy is that I had all my grain measured out and put in my grinder, when somehow the small table it is on tipped over, spilling my grain all over the floor. Luckily my floor was clean, and I swept up most of it, but probably .2 of a pound was missing or went under...

    Cherry wine help please

The cherries were crushed thoroughly, and let to steep in their juice for a day, while a campden tablet and pectic enzyme were added. Then we drained the bag, and put the bag into another pot with 1/2 gallon of water to "sparge"(not sure on wine brewing terms). The original cherry juice was...

    Cherry wine help please

Well pitched the yeast this morning. The cherrys by themself yielded about 1.075 with about 1.5gals of juice. Where we went wrong though, was calculating the amount of sugar needed. We added about 8 pounds of sugar that had been boiled into water, topped it up to the 5 gallon mark, stirred...

    Cherry wine help please

OK thanks, I will go a little lower ABV. Will back-sweetening it once I am about to bottle it lessen the harshness?

    Cherry wine help please

I will be adding sugar and water tommorow. I'm curious as well, a slight taste when chrushing the cherries was SUPER sweet. Like sickly sweet. My guess of the OG without any sugar added would be around 1.070-1.080. Then I dilute with water to reach 5 gallons, and add sugar until OG is around...

    Cherry wine help please

Hi, new to winemaking, been a homebrewer for about 3 years now. I just picked 25lbs of sweet cherries (VERY sweet, almost black in color and oh so delicious) and was going to make some wine with it. I was planning on making 5 gallons of it. So I have been reading up on it, and just wanted to...

    Sewing hop bags

For some reason my LHBS doesnt sell any hop bags besides those muslin ones. I don't like using those ones much more than a couple times, and so I was thinking of replacements. Obviously I could just order some nylon hops bags online, but since I own a small sewing company, I have tons and tons...
