I do not secondary. I dry hop in the primary. I cold crash 5 days before bottling. I find that I get better hop flavor this way; I think the hop oils get into the beer better if they are not flotting on top. However, I do not keg. Can you just dry hop in the keg and then carb and serve? I...
I have a hard time hitting 170 too. I have noticed the grain bed dropps in temperature about 5-10 degrees when I drain it. I tried 200 deg once and over shot it by 10 deg. Go figure
Can not compare with the Rams; I believe the Rams are actually a better team than the Ravens. 49s come from a strong division (at least this year they are strong). Seattle beat NE and 49s beat Seattle at home. The only way 49s lose is if their young quarterback chokes.
Oh, Seattle did not...
I have never used a sample tube. I just put the sanitized hydrometer in the bucket and take a reading. Probably not the best idea but it has works for me. However, I do use a thief to taste it:)
I am quite opposite to some of the high protien eaters. In December I had my retirement physical from the Army and found out I was 15lb overweight and had LDL of 190! After talking to my Dad I found out it runs in the family. I was started on Lipitor. I used to eat whatever I wanted and also...
I am not familiar with brix. My understanding is that mash out is used to stop the enzymes from working to perserve the work that has already been done. I do not think the average homebrewer needs to do this for two reasons.
1. Grains are well modified these days (I just take this at face...
A nice warm temperature around 165ish will help get the surgars more fluid. I have done sparge temperatures between 155 and 175; I have been everything but consistant as a newb of only 6 batches of all grain. The only thing that suffered was low effeciency at the low temps but otherwise made...
Must be a eastern and southern thing. But crap, California does the same thing with Sierra Nevada pale ale. More bitter then Alaskan IPA; at least to my taste buds. A beer does not need to be a hop bomb to be a IPA. What do I know?? I only have a microbrew every other block here in the...
So, is it coencidental that hops are bacteria free and a natural perservitive? I think everything has a pupose and if it does not then we just have not figured it out yet.
I love the quote listed below!
"beer is living proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy" Franklin
So, let's all...
