HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

Anyone running into issues with the control/PID algorithm creating self-induced oscillation after fermentation is complete and there isn't an exothermal reaction? I had this happen on a previous brew at the same exact time frame. Thinking this was a fluke, I didn't ask the question then...

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

Great writeup! I just went through everything and I have a few questions and comments. The naming convention that you used is slightly misleading, at least to me. It seems the first file that is created is actually the page that the outside world will see, using the PublicBeerPanel.php file...

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

The beer probe is in a thermowell in the center of the fermenter. The beer has only been in the fermenter since last night, so the graph doesn't encompass a very long period. I just did some checking and the way I also set up the profile had the temp climbing from 62F to 63F over 3 days, so that...

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

I've been wanting to build one of these for the longest time, and thanks to an amazing wife all of the parts showed up under the christmas tree this year. Perfect timing for my brewday yesterday. Only problem is now I find myself checking the status and temperatures every 5 minutes now that I...

Chugger Pump Modular Waterproof GFCI Box

Good eye. I can't believe I misread that when I was purchasing the outlet. I think I'll have to re-think my placement of where I mount the box.

Chugger Pump Modular Waterproof GFCI Box

Thanks! My chugger pump came with a three prong cord, so I didn't feel like mangling the end by hard wiring it. I went with a water and tamper resistant GFCI outlet, so I think even if water gets splashed on it, I'll be ok. I mainly wanted a water resistant housing to wire everything in that was...

Chugger Pump Modular Waterproof GFCI Box

GFCI outlets are not quite like a normal outlet in being able to separate the sockets/poles. With a normal plug, you can break the tab that connects them and have the top socket operate separate from a bottom socket. For example, I did this with my two STC-1000's. One socket is for the heater...

Chugger Pump Modular Waterproof GFCI Box

Hey all, I just recently decided to upgrade my all grain setup with the addition of a plate chiller and chugger pump. BrewHardware had a great kit/setup for sale that took a little customization for my configuration, but was probably the best bang for the buck out there. Since I saw a few...

Anything Similar to Pliny the Elder?

Honestly, PtE is overrated. Don't get me wrong, its a tremendous beer but there are dozens of equal if not better beers out there. Try some of your local brewery's IPA/DIPAs and I'm sure they are top notch. If you really must try PtE, give the homebrew clone (seen on HBT in multiple variations...

How many gallons of homebrew in 2014?

    18315 + 5 gal summer shandy = 18320 gal

    Deep freeze and kegs vacation.

One option would be to build a STC-1000 box. I use it for my kegerator, with no modifications to the fridge needed.
