Alternative false bottom for Blichmann G1 10g

Wondering if anyone has any experience with picking an alternative false bottom for blichmann G1 kettles, or know of one that'd fit well. I'd like to add a false bottom to my 10g boil kettle for hops and break. I've used a tippy dump brew sculpture a couple of times that has (what looks like)...

    Cream Soda tastes buttery

Follow up. I pretty much followed the same recipe with the following changes: 1 Tbsp of vanilla (=15mL) Boiled the sugar until 230F. Didn't add salt. Tastes much better. I think the advice about adding more vanilla is solid. Even this batch could maybe use a little more flavor...

    Cream Soda tastes buttery

No reason for the temp other than that was what the recipe called for. Seemed high, but figured I'd do the recipe as is first and ask what changes to try later. Salt was also in the recipe and it made sense at the time. I don't know much about soda, but it helps add dimension to some sweets and...

    Cream Soda tastes buttery

It did get a slight bit yellow and did get a tad darker on one of the edges during the boil. The ingredients for the vanilla are organic vanilla, purified water and alcohol.

    Cream Soda tastes buttery

Trying to sort out a cream soda recipe. Its simple enough: 16 oz sugar 16 oz water 1Tbsp of Orange juice 1 tsp Mexican vanilla extract Pinch of salt Add 4 oz water to the sugar and Melt the sugar and boil to 300f. Add remaining water, vanilla, salt. Resulting syrup is like caramel...

Excessive Foam with Perlick Flow Control Faucets?

Nah, double checked that to be sure, but good thought. I tried increasing the line length, but then I ran out of beer in the keg...so no word on if that would have solved it. In other news, my new keg of beer at about 2.4 vols is working perfect in the faucet and the flow control is a dream...

Brewtius Maximus/The Braxton 10 – Complete Single Tier Build

Kind of interested in this build. Where do people source the steel for stuff like this? He needed 44' of steel tubing. That's maybe about $250 worth of steel. Wonder where one could try and find scrap steel for that kind of thing.

Excessive Foam with Perlick Flow Control Faucets?

Thanks for the advice all. Someone in our club just said they just apply more back pressure (turn up CO2). That doesn't seem right, and didn't work. I'm going to get more line length and see what happens. The calculator I'm using suggest using an 8ft line. Mine are about 5 or 6ft...

Excessive Foam with Perlick Flow Control Faucets?

Solid beer as far as I could tell. I was concerned about a dip tube o-ring at first, but that didn't add up since it wasn't solid foam in the line.

Excessive Foam with Perlick Flow Control Faucets?

I went the extra mile to grab 2 Perlick Flow control faucets. I was led to believe that this would give me some flexibility in the beers I'd like to pour and negate the need to really balance my draft lines. Everything I've poured so far is almost total foam though, no matter how much I'm...

Minnesota Electric kettles, plate chiller, BCS, SSRs, QD's and more

I saw your craigslist ad and it mentioned a brew stand. Do you have that still? What's that look like?

Use KNOX! It's the best label adhesive

A less diluted solution has stuck better for me. I try to stop short of applying snot to the back of the labels, but your hands will get remarkably sticky if you've done it right. Could also be that the water wasn't hot enough to start when you added the gelatin. I bring my water to a boil...

Temp increases take forever on my manual HERMS?

Thanks! I'll also add that my most recent batch with this (a 1.074 IPA) came out at 92% efficiency. Ridiculous. I overshot my gravity so much that I had to ADD water...and now I'm going to have an extra 1.5 gallons roughly of this stuff. The only change I made from my other post was that I...
